I have a previous post explaining the problems of my truck and thought a fresh start was in order. I checked the balance rates last night after replacing the fuel filter and filling it with seafoam and running that through and heres what I have. In neutral with brake applied #1 -0.65 #2 -7.0 #3 -2.72 #4 +10.5 #5 -1.08 #6 -0.5 #7 -1.2 #8 -4.2 In drive with brake applied #1 -1.75 #2 -7.81 #3 -2.13 #4 +12.2 #5 -1.32 #6 +0.65 #7 -2.2 #8 -4.08 I also checked the fuel press and it was 30.0 MPa desired and 34.89% fpr commanded. Im not sure what to do, if someone here would help Id appreciate it alot, thanks.

#2 looks like its toast (tip may be bad), #4 is clogged up and not fueling much at all...

I would possibly swap #2 & #4 and see if the balance rates given follow and if the do change both...

I was thinking about that but was wondering if they are as easy to change as they look? Are there any special tools required? Thanks.

Yes They Are Easy To Remove. Just Unplug An Remove Return Lines, Be Careful As The Plastic Caps Tend To Break, Then Remove Hold Down And Pop It Out. Injector # 8 Is A Little On The Iffy Side As Well, But It May Just Be A Little Clogged So Try Running Some Injector Cleaner Though It, Either Stanadyne Or Lucas Are The Best To Try. Run A Couple Tanks Through It To See If It Cleans Up.

Im assuming that the desired vs commanded fp is ok, its at the bottom of the post. I was hoping that the fpr might be bad but Im not that lucky... I will probably change all 3 inj that are out of range. I was also told to try to drive it and run cleaner through but was wondering if its safe to drive with bad inj in it? Where is a good place to buy and what is a good price??? Im ready to order and need to do this quickly.

I would try and ice pick it first. Could be a bad connection on the injector causing resistance in the cct.

Would that make the balance rates read high or low? Would that make it smoke alot runnin down the road but still pull smooth? I thought #7 and #2 were the only ones that needed that? Mine seems to be #2, #4, and #8 are out of range. Just asking ? BTW, always better to ask but I will certainly try any idea. Thanks.

Normally...yeah its #2 & #7 that go bad but I've heard of other connectors losing touch as well. No where near as common but it does happen. Look at it this way, ice picking them costs you nothing so if you do it, you're not out anything. A trip to the dealer always means a lighter wallet

Its Definately Safe To Drive With Worn Injectors Itll Just Run Rough Is All. I Would Try The Cleaner Because They Can Clean Alot Of That Crap Off Of The Tips Of The Injectors. The Cleaners I Like The Best And Have The Best Luck With In The Big Trucks Are Either Lucas Or Stanadyne Both Are Good. You Can Get Them Pretty Much Anywhere Just Check Pricing For The Best Deal. Good Luck.

yeah, I took it to a diesel shop today not the dealer but still a diesel shop. The guy hooked it to a bosch scanner and by reading the inj duty cycles told me that the #5 and #6 inj was barely working and all the others looked good. Huh, I used the predator and all the duty cycles were the same. He also told me there was a problem with my lift pump or inj pump, because he tried to manually run the psi up to 23000 with the truck idling and it would only do 16000 or so. The truck started idling rough with the press this high. The guy also had the balls to try and convince me that a diesel with black smoke is running lean, and if its grey its rich. BS... Im gonna take it to the dealer tomorrow and see what they say, ( cant wait )... Is it possible for there to be soo much soot in the intercooler and intake that the proper amount of air cant get in to burn all the fuel or am I just thinking wishfully? Im also torn between the inj balance rates being an accurate way of diagnosing inj problems, cant seem to get a straight answer. Well see what kind of raping I get tomorrow... Ben Dover...
