I just got my AutoMeter pyrometer and I noticed that the needle drops well below the 0 mark. Does this matter or does it need to be calibrated? Haven't had time to read the instructions, just wondering. I did notice that the boost guage has a peg at the 0 mark, why not on the pyrometer.

Also, are these A-pillar guage pods meant to fit over the stock A-pillar cover, or do you just remove the stocker and do a direct replacement?

Thanks!

Should be About 350-400 at idle.

I dont recall it going to far below zero it should snap up to about zero as soon as it sees power. Mcrat is right on where it should idle. The a-pillar pod I got from Auot meter goes over the existing a-pillar. Mine had plastic rivets which holds it to the existing one.

It should never be 0.....its a temp sender remember, if its 80* out it should read close to that. It should pop up once it sees voltage depending how you have it wired. My LB7 with exhaust dosnt idle with EGT's that high. Mcrat has an LLY so he would know what they do.

It looks like the A-pillar pod has a rolled edge that will snap behind the stocker and fit like a glove. I haven't installed anything yet, but will be painting tonight and tapping holes for the pyrometer tomorrow night. By Saturday, I should have things in order for my trip next week.

I pulled my pyrometer out of the packaging tonight to read the directions and noticed that the face of my guage was not very clean. It looked like it had some red marking/material (paint, glue???) on the 0 mark, some small white debris (paper ???) on the 16 mark, and some smudges or fingerprints on the top of the guage face.

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the glass cover so that I can clean it? I tried twisting it, but it did not seem to screw on. How about removing the nuts from the bolts in the back, does that allow it to come apart?

Anyway, it isn't really noticeable from arms length away, but it annoys the shiit out of me when I look close and recall paying $130.

For that kind of money, I'd demand an exchange for one that doesn't appear used or damaged.
