: 8.1 Gauges???

i just bought my 8.1l with the 6 speed manual and wanted to put three aftermarket gauges that i can use i pull trailers alot what kind whould you get and what is the numbers that they should be showing thanks

The trans temps gauges are pretty accurate. The coolant gauge is dampened so a better one would be good. When I was towing with my 2500 6.0L I mainly used coolant and engine load (TPS). It's nice to see when you are rolling into the throttle enough for a pending downshift.

I would probably just get a Scangauge II with mount and select coolant, engine load, trans temps (why not) and TPS (engine load). I don't think I would bother with intake air temps.

Don't think a ZF has a trans temp one, not sure though

I have the scangauge and watch it while towing. I watch instant gas mileage (I use this to see if shifting up/down was better for mileage), knock retard, water temp, and the last one I change from time to time. I think I have it on average gas mileage now.
