I could use some info on picking out a tuner. I had the diablo and was not to happy with the shifting so sent it back. Would like to know what the majority thinks on this topic. Im looking for fuel economy not a race truck, but when i had the diablo the power was great!!!:D

I believe one of the most popular for the duramax is the EFI Live tune.

yes go efi live. I've ridden in an efi live truck tuned by duramaxtuner nick and all i can tell you is its nice. The shifting is smooth and consistant. who ever tuned my truck did a bad job cuz it shifts hard enough to light the tires into second. Not what i wanted. i'll be driving down to get mine tuned by him for shure

I believe one of the most popular for the duramax is the EFI Live tune.

EFILive is not a tune. It is programming tool used to develop/create your own custom tune. EFILive does not include any tunes with the product.

Most EFILive vendors furnish one or more EFILive developed starter tunes with the tool when you make the purchase. These tunes are developed by the vendor, not EFILive. That means the tune included by vendor A will not be the same as from vendor B. If you want a completed tune when you purchase EFILive, then the purchase decision is more than just the selection of EFILive. It is really selecting the vendor that includes the tune that matches your requirements.

The PPE Economy is a great, price effective option. EFILive is always an option as well just not quite as cost effective but hands down the best route to go

If this guy doesn't buy this one here's a great deal

watch the Marketplace for used tuners as well if all your looking for is fuel economy

EFI live. If you are not comfortable tuning yourself have your ecm done by someone with it.
I had similar requirements out of my truck and I switched form edge with *** to a kennedy custom EFI tune 2 setting ECM (tow and drive). I have never been happier with my truck, it runs better now with 100k on it then it ever did before.

Yea I have the PPE hot+2 and it is great. 10 diffrent tunes to pick from but I would love to have EFI live.

Keep in mind a Hot+2 pretty much has 7 useless tunes if your trans isnt built. Just get a Standard or Economy. I love my Predator, but will be switching to EFI Live eventually.

I know everyone is in love with efi live and i cant blame them. I know numerous people that use it and swear by it. I recently was going to switch to it but idaho rob talked me out of it. Yes he is a fan of it to but he said if your not going to hook it up and try to tune it yourself then its not worth having due to having to buy your tunes. He told me to stay with what i had wich was edge *** stacked with a superchips. Had it this way for years and was great. then the edge went out so i removed both and went with the edge evolution and to be honest i am very happy. Thr truck runs better and shifts better than before not to mention all the things you can monitor plus excellent mileage. I know alot of people stray away from edge but this is one product they got right im very pleased. I think its good bang for the buck considering you get the programmer and the gauges for less than what most programmes cost.

Moved to 2nd gen electronics.

BTW, keep in mind that if you didn't leave the Predator tune in place long enough for the tranny to learn the new power, you're going to be disappointed with any tuner, 'cause they all will do the same thing.

I have been running on a Predator for 3 years now and it is an excellent tuner... perhaps one of the best for the money and it's flat out idiot-proof.

How long is long enough? to keep the turner in?

Takes a day or two - maybe as much as a hundred miles of driving around in town to train the tranny for the new power.

.... and on the 100hp setting, it has some serious jam :thumb:

Great programmer. 2-3 mpg gain, shift smooth, turbo brake and great customer support. Get the EAS system probe. There are feature upgrades that will need that probe. If you might block you egr, money well spent to get the race cts the. Do not let the race name scare you. It is an epa thing.

Nick is a good guy. He is always helping people here. Good tuner if you are going the efi route.

The edge evolution cs/cts have a trans reset. This resets the taps. It is a fast relearn for the allison. Still a good idea to go through the gears a little but this speeds up the learning process.

Hard defuels and super crap shifts sums it up reading alot of the prior users opinions. The power seems to be in it but can you live with the defuel and jerky trans.??? I have seen lots of threads in here if you look back too. Some Dodge users swear on Bully.
