Last night I finished my dpf delete and tuner, I ran it this morning to work and I am very dissapointed. I was expecting instant mileage gains, But much to my dismay, In city driving my computer reaqds about 1 mpg (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=385085#) less than before the delete and my highway driving is maybe .5 better. My computer has always been pretty spot on with my mileage(I always check it by hand calculating at fillups and its usually about .5 off). Is anyone else seeing no gains at all or barely any? I Had high hopes and now my warranty is shot!!!

Your computer isn't accurate anymore with the tuner. Try figuring it up by hand before you get too upset.

What tuner did you use? Frankly, some of the tuners are made just to blow black smoke and won't help your economy.

Did you reset the Avg Fuel Economy in the DIC? The readings can be a little flakey when there are very few miles after a reset, and, if you haven't reset for 1000's of miles, it can take a long time to change the average.

With the mods on my truck, I am averaging 20.5 MPG in 50/50 city/highway driving. On the interstate at 72-73MPH, I get around 22. The sweet spot mileage wise is ~60MPH where it get's around 24MPG. I can get these results on a completely stock tune or with my biggest tune, which is ~100HP over. I haven't seen the different tunes make a big difference.

I've been really focused on fuel economy with mine. You have to have a really soft foot to get mileage out of these.

Some suggestions for you if you want to go further:

- Do the EGR delete.
- Get the EGR Delete Valve Pipe from Danville Performance. It will eliminate all the EGR valve intake restrictions. This alone got me 1MPG improvement.
- Look into the DSP5 and EFI Live tuning. Get it dyno tuned to your truck and your specs.

The mileage is there, just have to seek it out.

Edit: MPG's above were hand calculated. The EFI Live tuning I have did not mess up the DIC. My DIC is off a little bit because I am running 265/70/17 tires.

What tuner did you get, what level is it set on? I will say this, my DIC has been dead on with or without a tuner! Always within .2mpg or .5gal of what I actually hand calc or pump. Fill out you sig so we know what you've done to the truck. Chris

I will say, in my experience with Quad S2, I got the best mpg's on the 90hp tune on the highway, 70hp tune got me better mpg's in the city. Nothing more than maybe 1mpg between the two, but it was different. Quad does exactly what it states, but when I switched over to Edge Race Evo, I picked up almost 1.5mpg, but I lost basically all smoke out the tailpipe. It's a much "cleaner" tuner compared to the "smokey" Quad tuner. One other thing to keep in mind, if it's been really hot where you are, it'll have some effect on things. It's been mid 90's with heat indexes way over 100* for a while here. Sitting at light the other day, the temp gauge in the mirror reached 124*, guess it was reading heat off the pavement. I've been recently getting the worst mpg's, empty, towing, etc. Last week, I towed my 5ver when it was only 80* outside, in the morning, mpg's went back up to where they usually are, EGT's never got over 1250*. So, don't give up hope yet. Does the DPF delete pipe just delete the DPF or does it also delete the DOC (new age cat)? Just wondering? Did you change the size of you tires in the tune? Chris

I had great luck with my S2 i gained about 2mpg on highway not really a gain in city but i couldnt keep my foot out of it as soon as i changed my tire size my computer was way off on the mpg

I don't know what kind of negative effects the DOC has on allowing the exhaust to flow more freely. I'd imagine it would have some negative effect on flow. You really won't know how accurate your DIC is until you drive it and fill up a couple times and do the math yourself. Do you have anything that has a GPS on it that can track how fast you are actually traveling? Just cuz a tire is a certain size, doesn't mean it really is that size, all depends on the wheel it's on and manufacturer. Chris

the heat definately plays a huge impact on the mileage!
