: ATS III/IV/V daily driving
Goalnightx 07-21-2005, 10:31 AM ATS users, what are your experiences with any of the three level I mentioned when it comes to daily driving? I put alot of miles on, plus stop and go traffic. I'm going to add a minimum of a level 3 tranny but may go higher if the IV & V drive the same. Does having an upgraded tranny "feel" better in the ride in all gears? By the way, I will be getting the cooler and co-pilot. Anything else?
lakingslayer 07-21-2005, 10:56 AM Just a warining. You probably are going to get a lot of varying opinoins on this. A lot of variances are based on the setups of the trucks and how the driver drive them. The tranny experts will be able to answer your questions the best.
Mike L. 07-21-2005, 11:41 AM They all behave very well on the street and hyway.

ratlover 07-21-2005, 11:48 AM The co pilot can be a bit finiky but you can turn that off or down.
Kennedy 07-21-2005, 12:39 PM The use of the Copilot can confuse the transmission in some instances. It seems that the ones seeing the best results are the ones who switch the Copilot off for daily driving and on at the track or when powering up.
Myself, I find that under 12psi boost it had a bit of trouble as the copilot is pretty much inactive here as I understand. In my case, the truck runs very strong with lower boost levels and lighter APP so it needs a bit of help. Future programming revisions are said to address this though. My ATS was one of the first out there back when all that was available was the flow valve and converter and gradually was evolved into what was about a V equivalent. It was at it's best level of refinement when removed last year to begin testing of the Suncoast V which will soon be replaced by the ATS Extreme for further evaluation.
GMC2500HD 07-21-2005, 05:10 PM I will just add this to ease the confusion. Please keep it on topic, any threads that are not pertaining to trans stuff will be deleted... Now with that said, just sit back and enjoy, you are going to get a lot of different answers...
Mike L. 07-21-2005, 11:06 PM I don't see any confusion here at all. Thread is too new. Show some love here.

And I love the way my ATS still shifts. :)
I have no complaints on the way ATS Stage V acts on the street.Shifts like you should expect
dmaxalliTech 07-22-2005, 09:24 AM One thing that does need to be cleared up is the difference between a Level III, IV, and V
A Level III is in KIT form, you put it in. Converter, C1,2,3 clutches and the co-pilot
A Level IV is a complete trans from ATS WITHOUT the co-pilot.
A Level V is a complete trans from ATS WITH the co-pilot.

According to ATS's website stage III has co-pilot included. Below is copy & paste:
LCT-1000 Stage III Package
- ATS Electronic Co-Pilot Kit
- ATS High Capacity Pan
- TripleLok Torque Converter
- Transmission Pump Kit
- Triple-Pack Transmission Kit Internal Components
- Up to 550 HP ($1000 core charge)
So I'm still confused. All though that is not hard to do...

Never mind. I need glasses. I reread your post and see the Stage IV specs. Sorry for confusing others.....:(
dmaxalliTech 07-22-2005, 06:16 PM Your only decision needs to be what you want to do. The driveability of them is going to be similer all around.
The IV and V will have warranty on them, the III will only have warranty on the converter and co-pilot box.
The III will be more labor intensive as it requires trans dissasemble, the others just get swapped out.
