TBWdracula2003 08-11-2010, 01:46 AM http://www.a1customs.com/dash_mounted_turbo_boost_control_gm_diesel.htm
my buddy said he was going to get one and if he didnt like it he would give it to me.
just wondering if it would be just a 350 dollar chunk of harness that did nothing.
RCpullerdude 08-11-2010, 01:48 AM That's Steaksauce. Stay far, far away from him. FAR away.
TBWdracula2003 08-11-2010, 01:58 AM alright ill tell him tomorrow, thanks :)
Tommygunner 08-11-2010, 02:28 AM Spend some time in the FAQ threads. You can build one your self for under 50 bucks.

why give steaksaus all your hard earned money......... You can get it all, more and better stuff here for free.
Torque454 08-11-2010, 04:58 AM They make boost controllers for gas engines that are adjustable from the dash. You could probably make one work, and it would be nice to be able to turn the boost down on the highway when you dont need it to save on fuel. The way it is with a manual boost controller there is excessive backpressure since the wastegate is being held closed until the pressure can push it open against the spring.
I think I lost about 2mpg with the manual controller, although I had no boost before the manual controller and constant boost afterwards. Still yet, if it did increase mileage noticeably it would be worth it.

Dude, that product could be the best thing since sliced bread, but the people here don't like that vendor for whatever reason, not sure if it's a personal thing or a business thing but either way nobody here is going to recommend it.
Personally I have never purchased anything from this steaksauce guy so I couldn't tell you. I like the concept though, being able to change your boost pressure and fuel at will without getting a new flash or chip being able to do it on the fly etc.

The reason we don't like him is that he's a scam artist, and a very poor one at that. He builds his junk in his basement, charges a fortune for something that doesn't work(take a look at the fuel control for something that doesn't work at all) or has a snowballs chance in hell of lasting, then when you find out it doesn't work or it falls apart, he's into the wind like a fart in a duststorm.
His website has no address(unless you call a drop box at a "mail call" store an address) nor does he have a phone number you can reach him at.
Honestly, this guy isn't likely anywheres for his antics, of bashing everyone else(vendors, members, etc) nonstop and shamelessly promoting his product.
He's been doing it since 2003, and he's been banned from every diesel site on the web for shamelessly plugging his crap, and i mean every diesel site.
However if you don't believe that, and think it's something to do with just this forum, go ahead and buy from him. It's your money not mine. You were warned though.
Also do some research. You cannot change your fuel on the fly like he says you can. the PCM only checks the resistor value every 50 key turns. it's not an "instant" thing. so unless you want to turn that dial, disconnect your batteries for a bit, reconnect them, then re-start the truck, all while moving, then sure it's "on-the-fly". The PCM doesn't work like that, and if the "seller" had any clue what-so-ever on how a 6.5TD electronic injection system worked he wouldn't have come up with that BS product in the first place. Don't you think if this product worked other actually reputable people would have something like this for sale?

Don't you think,, <--- yep those are the Key words of this sentence.
Diaric 08-11-2010, 09:14 AM good thread. makes us remember scam artist like steaksauce are still around and he's not some old horror story from the past
and if you go into the 6.5 facts section, he's there at the top

Now, who wants to recommend something that does not work?
How do we know it? there are some member here who bought them before they found this site.

Bingo! :nail:
And just to add to the fact that there's no possible way for the adjust on the fly fuel controller to work, the boost controller probably does. But like Tommygunner pointed out, if you go into the FAQ's you can see where you can make your own for a few bucks and you don't support Steaky.

I very strongly suggest you do some research on ole' Steaky. If you want, you could even go out and buy his adjustable fuel and boost control, then come back and tell us how great they work and what a great concept it is, even though the boost controller is something that's easily DIY (even outlined in the FAQ), and the fuel controller won't work because as Dave described, it can't.
scottmanesis123 08-11-2010, 03:29 PM
No need to get all hostile, I said I like the concept. Had no idea if it would work or not and never had a reason to "research" the steaksauce guy. I stated that I don't know why the people on this forum don't like him, but it is obviously a pretty touchy subject....lol. Relax, I am not even a fan of sauce on my beef at all. I prefer steak rubs over steaksauce, but that's just me.

That was entertaining AND Enlightening. What an idiot, now I know more about steaksauce than The Outback!
I did wonder how this thing would overide the 50 start cycles deal. Some of the posts now have me confused about that....does the ECM check for a resistor value every 50 key turns or not??
