I'm losing the paint off of my radio power button. The dealer says the only fix is to replace the radio which I'd rather not do even if it's a warranty replacement. I know the round center insert can be popped out and replaced but they are not available as a separate part. Is this a common problem? What are the rest of you doing to fix it? I suppose I could just paint it solid grey.

Ya, my Volume button has a mark in the center. You can easily scratch that coating off. Looks bad but I will be doing the BOSE lux amp/radio upgrade in my truck soon. Got all the parts needed just got to get the time!

My radio button had the paint chipped off on the power button too. Last week I bought and installed just center part with the writing on it. I bought it from my dealer, so I'll look tonight and post the part # tomorrow for you.
How's that grab ya?

Its a common GM/Delphi/Delco radio problem...consider yourself lucky or just extra careful if your radio buttons have not peeled. Some peel, some dont...depends on the radio. The nav radios dont seem to peel tho for some reason. Earlier non-touchscreen nav radios peeled a little bit but I have never seen a touchscreen nav with peeled buttons.

My 03 pealed so bad that they replaced the radio. They wanted to take out the old radio and send it in til they got the new one back. They needed it for the core or somethng. That didn't fly very well, they ended up ordering it without the core. It was fine after they fixed it. Now my 05 is starting to have the "band button" rub off a bit. Looks to me they should put a extra coat of paint on these units. Oh well-can;t win em all.
