Lots of factors will make a difference. What generation is your truck. An LB7 turbo back will be ALOT louder than say an LLY, LBZ, or LMM. Are you going to straight pipe it or run a muffler? That will also make a HUGE difference. Need more info.

Just put a MBRP trubo back with muffler on my dads 08. Compared to my straight pipe on my lly, it is super quiet! In the cab of his 08, its barely noticable. Only gets somewhat loud 2500 rpms and up. I would def do it!

A straight piped LMM is still relatively quiet compared to other generations. It will sound great IMO and not too loud. You should be able to carry on a conversation in the cab without a problem. It should roar pretty good when you get on it.

Get on youtube and search for lmm exhaust. Should be all kinds of different setups on there you can listen to.

3" downpipe and 5" back, not loud at all until you get on it. It's the LMM so it is a little quieter than the LB7 but its not loud. if worse comes to worse you can always buy the muffler after the fact and add it on :) there is really little difference though.

x2, that's exactly what I did as far as youtube videos. I didn't see what route you were going with as far as tuners to delete the dpf. That will also make a difference at idle, depending on if it retains the hiss or changes idle to a rumble. Not a huge difference, but will have some in cab. Chris

My 4 inch with the muffler is pretty quiet. I hear the turbo more than anything.

It depends on what "loud" is to you. I put on a 4" SS MBRP downpipe back and it wasn't really loud unless you put your foot in it. What was really annoying for me was the awful droan at cruising speed on the freeway. If you are going to be on a wireless headset this could be a problem for you, the bluetooth head sets are bad enough now add the annoying droan of an exhaust! Good luck!

To try to lessen the droan, I added a Magnaflow muffler in the headpipe right after the downpipe, very little change and $120 gone. I ended up buying a Corsa muffler which is still a straight through, free flowing muffler and it is really quiet now and best of all, no more annoying droan!! The Corsa stuff is pricey and they do make a complete exhaust for our trucks just not sure about duals. Give Chad a call at Alligator and he will get you a good price. Another exhaust I heard had less droan was the Diamond Eye Quiet tone exhaust.

I did recently install the Diamond Eye downpipe and I have noticed no difference in sound or performance.
