: Wind Buffeting with rear windows down, just me?
MarkD 08-09-2010, 11:28 PM Whenever I roll down my rear windows (crew cab, GMT-900). I get a pulsating/buffeting sound inside the truck. I noticed that even the moon roof cover/visor moves up and down. Is this typical? It is so bad that I cannot drive with the windows down!
I have the GM tow mirrors and Nitto Trail Grapplers with the stock suspension.
I tried to search for this also, without luck.
Thanks...
Mark
jadjr 08-09-2010, 11:37 PM YES! it is very annoying!
Max Power 08-09-2010, 11:44 PM Every crew cab GM I have owned does it.
69 MOD 08-09-2010, 11:49 PM Mine does it also but I have power slider...puting the slider 1/2 way open takes i right away.
MOD
JIMMMY 08-09-2010, 11:56 PM All the windows... all the way down seems OK. No sunroof or rear slider here.
Speaking of windows... Just had the cheapy Dave Smith front doors tint removed and quality job done to match factory rear doors. And darker yet rear window tint. Pimpin' !
;)
BDDiesel 08-10-2010, 01:28 AM Had that problem since new but I found that if you crack the driver's window and the rear passenger window the buffeting goes away.:coolnana:
Prairie Ville 08-10-2010, 01:31 AM Same thing here. Crack one of the front windows and all will be well!
confrontational 08-10-2010, 01:34 AM On my CC (classic) front windows down and lowering the rears just a few inches makes it a very calm quiet ride.
hogracer3d 08-10-2010, 02:13 AM Not just the trucks, my 09 Traverse does the same thing, as did my 2000 Impala
JD 500 08-10-2010, 02:51 PM I thought there was a helicopter coming in from above .....:wtf:
My 01 1500HD (CCSB) did not do it.
ryanryan 08-10-2010, 03:00 PM Almost every SUV, truck, etc. I have been in make that noise when only on rear window is down. My truck, Chevy Equinox, and Mercedes ML350 are some that I have been in recently that I can remember making that noise.
colt49 08-10-2010, 09:03 PM Liberty CRD-06 is so bad with rear windows down a bit the buffeting sound seems to almost blow the eardrums out. It's so loud and the impact of up and down blasting effects are too much. I vote with untolerable ones.......
MarkD 08-10-2010, 11:44 PM Part of me was hoping no one else had to put up with this crap.
The rest of me is glad to know I am not the only one.
Thanks guys!
jrmsoccer32 08-11-2010, 12:29 AM Crack the sunroof and it will go away
chevdude 08-12-2010, 08:47 PM My sunroof sometimes helicopters too...but only on windy days....go figure?????
Most cars and trucks I've owned do that...my Z06 Vette has it bad and there's no solution given that there's no rear windows. Cracking the rear slider on my LMM solves the issue.
VRMax 08-14-2010, 12:29 PM I get it in my truck too. I believe it has less to do with the make and model of vehicle and more to do with physics. With one window rolled down, the cabin is being pressurized and depressurized continuously. If you roll another window down, that extra pressure has somewhere to "go". I think that's what is going on...
