I'll be needing to change out the BFG's on my Dmax very soon. I've been happy with these but I was wondering if there are any good 265-75-16's with a "E" load rating. Preferably with an all terrain type tread.

Define "All Terrain"? The 3500 SRW's come with Bridgestone 265-75's that they call all-terrain, and are E-Rated.

Try Bridgestone Revos. They are 265 and E rated.

I got 46,000 miles from a set of Firestone Steeltex A/T 265's, load range E on my just traded (last week) 2000, 3500, SRW, 4x4, 7.4 liter gas truck. I rotated them every 4000 to 5000 miles and they wore very well. I would buy them again.

I got 265/70-16 Cooper ATRs in load range E, they got a good tread and they are not too expensive.

My understanding is that the BFG AT KO's will be out in an "E" flavour right away in the 265-75R-16

I am in the same situation. BFG should have a E range tire, the GY WorkHorse, and then there's also the BFG Comercial Traction tire. I've been looking at the Nitto terra grappler, dickcepek FCII, and the interco trxus MT. They all have high load capacities and I think are E rated.

I'm a new owner and just replaced the 245/75/16 Bridgestones that were on the truck with Michelin 265/75/16E LTX MS. I also replaced the shocks with Bilsteins. The difference in ride is like night and day. I was interested in the Bridgestone Revos, but couldn't find any locally. The Revos look to have a more aggressive tread pattern.

In this case my definition of all terrain would be something similar to my BFG AT's.

I recently installed a set of Bridgestone Dueler Revos, 265/75/16 E-rated and have been very impressed with the performance on and off road. They have a very nice look as well. I've put about 6,000 miles on them to this point.

I too have the Firestones - so far I'm very pleased. Rotation & lower pressures when not toting a load is the key!

I think Toyo A/T's and M/T's are. I'm almost sure the M/T's are.

I got a set of pro comp A/T tires about 1000 miles ago and like them. They are 265/75/16 E rated on the stock rim. They are pulling the GMC trick at 4wheelparts.com now and have the "family plan" deal. I paid $550 with a buy one get one free deal. With the family plan 4 tires = $512.

I have a "pre-need" set of Cooper Discoverer ATR tires in 265-75-16 Load Range E sitting in the garage. Price was $500 plus Sales Tax for 4 tires, including free mounting and balancing.

I had a set of these I was really happy with the performance, wet road, even the ride was great. But I had them mounted and we took a 5000+ mile trip with a 8k trailer when we returned my tire guy and I decided that the rear tires where shot. I think it is because the compound was to soft.

That's what's on my truck (the stock tire). I don't think the tread pattern is very all terrain-ish -- looks more like a street tread pattern. Also, even tho the sidewall says you can go to 80# pressure and 3415 max load, there's a door sticker (from Bridgestone) that says not to exceed 75# pressure and 29xx# total truck load. Oh yeah and the ride is harsh.

I've had good luck with the Goodyear A/TS and BFG A/Ts and the new 265 E BFG is suppossed to be out next month sometime. If you can hold out, that's what I'd wait for...

Last week I put on a set of these. They're beautiful on the road....handle well and are very quiet, quieter than the 245's that came stock. Later this week they'll get used offroad. I chose them because they're also supposed to be an excellent snow tire....we'll find out in about 4 months.

Just mounted 6 new Michelin LTX E's on my 04 cab/chassis with service body. Original Generals were shot at 26k. Had to buy Wheel spacer so the 265/75's would fit on rear axle without rubbing. It really fills out the wheel well now and looks great. Only have 1k since change but ride is better along with traction. These set me back almost $1,300.oo  mounted. Hope they last as long as every says they will.

Noticed when going over steel grating like used on a draw bridge the truck now wants to sway back and forth at the back end???

Ditto on the Goodyears with the Silent Armor. Running them (265E) on the Yukon and will have then on the HD as soon as I decide on a size (265/285).

Just bought a set of the Goodyear Silent Armors in 265/75-R16 , load range E. Got them at the local discount tire place. The Goodyear dealer had them backordered and said that Goodyear hasn't had a good light truck tire until the last year or two. But he said these seem to be holding up really well.

Bridgestone Revos. They are 265 /75/16's and E rated.

What tire pressure for 265's with and without a load?

Cold pressure... When towing I run max or near max all around (70-80 PSI). When solo I run less (50-60 PSI). Must use higher pressure when towing (21k GCW) or tires get too hot from the additional friction created by lower tire pressures. Conversely, if you ever get stuck in sand, lower the tire pressure, thus increasing contact surface area, and it's easier to get out.

As for tires... I debated between Bridgestone Revo's and Michelin LTX M/S's for a while... until I read a few posts that the Revo's tend to "squirm" when put under heavy load (other than that, people have reported excellent results from the Revo's). I went with the Michelin's because a primary concern is safety/stability when towing. I'm not necessarily saying the Revo's are unsafe for towing-- but I believe the Michelin's are better. The Michelin's have performed flawlessly and I'm very satisfied with them.

Cheapest I can find that have an aggressive tread are Kumhos:

This is an old post so I suppose the tires are bought, but for any others looking at this thread I would be careful of the Kumhos. I bought a set of the Kumho load range E tires for my G30 van and the tire squirm was horrible. I got them for the same reasons as McRat was thinking - low price and good looking tread. I only drove them from the tire store home before I was on the phone to TireRack. I thought they were actually dangerous on my 6500 GVW van. They may be great on lighter vehicles, but I would never put them on a heavy one again because the sidewalls just do not seem to be stiff enough. TireRack took them back and replaced them at no charge for the Bridgestone Revos which are much, much more stable.

I want to repeat I have nothing against Kumho, but these tires are not suitable for heavy vehicles (which seems strange for an "E" tire).
