The previous owner of my 08 truck installed an Airaid intake system and probably threw away the OEM intake system. I want to remove the Airaid and install an OEM air filter system. I downloaded the Airaid installation instructions and it appears I need to purchase the OEM Air cleaner assy and Mount bracket. I will probably need the MAS mounting screws and possibly other screws/bolts that were discarded during the Airaid installation. I found the OEM Air cleaner assy and Mount bracket at several GM OEM online parts stores. Anyone here have some hands-on experience with this conversion either way? Maybe your expertise can save me the trouble of trial and error. Thanks!

I would go to my local auto recycler and see about getting it out of a wrecked truck before going the new route. Question why do you wish to go back to stock?

Auto recyclers usually charge about 1/2 what a new whatever cost in my experience, so this is a good idea. Also, I can see what parts I need. My reasons to change back to the OEM filter system:
1. There was a filter test done and I cannot find the link now, but it showed a comparison of about 7 popular filter systems and the OEM's filter system removed the most dirt and would last the longest without a change. It did not have the best air flow, but I rather have maximum engine protection.
2. An oiled filter with too little oil lets a lot of dirt into the engine and with too much oil can require a MAS cleaning. With the OEM filter there is no guess work. Plus my eyes are not perfect anymore and I have a hard time seeing whether I have enough oil or not on the oil type filter.
3. Some Duramax owners that have engines with 500 to 600 BHP use the OEM filter system and say they work fine. I want much less BHP so I think the OEM will work for me.

You could possibly swap in a dry filter to replace the oiled Airaid filter. S&B makes dry filters to replace other companies oiled filters!

Thanks! I asked S&B if their dry filter will keep as much dirt out of my engine as the OEM ACdelco. If so, I will go this route.

Their site does have that info. Although they rate their filter at only 30K, compared to much more possible with OEM.

Amsoil rates theirs at 100K or 4 years:

;)
Aftermarket dry filters still could let too much air in causing sensor codes.

I would post a wanted ad on the forums. I am sure there is someone out that has put an aftermarket CAI in that would sell you their OEM on the cheap. I would check E-bay as well.
