I was reading a thread about the new 07 GM 900's and according to some insiders the HD's have been given the green light for SFA (straight front axle's)!:ro) I'm sure some of you remember the Cheyenne concept truck demonstrating 4 wheel independant suspension. I thought that was the end of any possibility of a straight front axle on a GM pickup. It looks like GM is taking the new HD's very serious. According to the thread you can look for class leading power, class leading interiors, and a taller stance than the current truck!:cool2:
I will believe all of this when I see it, but it does sound promising. IFS has served GM well, and they will continue to use it on everything but the HD's. I have enjoyed IFS for the most part, but if this information is true I will gladly welcome a change.
Let me know what you guys think.

I was reading the truck talk section of GMinside news. The thread is 56 pages long.):h There is a guy on there who is associated with a Chevy dealership, and has access to a monthly letter outlining some of the features of future GM products. Apparently not many dealerships get the newsletter since its expensive to subscribe. Like I said, I will believe it when I see it, but it would be cool if it is true.

I've seen this rumored every year for the last 5 or so years now. I just don't see enough proof in the pudding here to consider this one. GM is already driving test mules on the road by now and for one with a solid front axle to escape the cameras eye is pretty improbable. I'd welcome it though along with the added height.

I'm not ready to accept, or discredit it. To date there have been no spy shots of the pickups, only spy shots of the SUV's. It would make more sence to do it in conjuntion with a restyle than it would have been to do it any of the past 5yrs. I am being cautiously optomistic about this info. My guess is GM planned on and wanted to do IFS. But the thing that makes me wonder is they have been doing alot of focus studies on the new trucks to see what people want. I'm guessing SFA's were brought up alot in the HD studies. According to the info I was reading, the company that makes some of GM's front end components is the same company that makes Dodges front ends. So its not out of the question. The guy who is sharing this info swears up and down that its going to happen. I guess time will tell. If it was up to me I would say:grd:

I doubt chevy/gmc will go with a solid front, if IFS works..why change it (GMC's moto) but at the same time...its supposed to be a whole new truck...we will see.
Bullshiit! GM can't sell enough trucks and SUVs to pay their bills now and make Wall Street happy. How the hell do you think they will justify developing a new chassis and platform for one application only. I got a news flash for you. Tell that top secret GM insider with the even more top secret high dollar elitist newsletter that he is full of shiit and he should spend a little more time crafting a story that is believable and actually makes sense.
Here's a second newsflash. Many of you would like to believe that the customer comes first, but the investor really comes first. They can always sell the same shiit to the same customers year after year with some clever marketing and the addition of useless equipment like OnStar.
Have a nice SFA day! :smashfrea
