: limped on level 2!

Showing off a little while givng my uncle a ride last weekend. I was surprised that I set a limp code while running the pred on level 2/65hp. I did power-brake a litlle more than I had in the past, which I assume was the culprit.

Anyone else limp the trans while running the 65hp tune??

Not yet. How many miles have you been running at that level?

A few 1093's but never limped the tranny.

Did you scan for codes? If so did you get a P1093 or a P0700? P1093 is Engine limp and the P0700 is the ECM telling you that you need to scan the TCM for codes. It is possible you limped it. Did you feel anything strange in the drivtrain when it happened?

I can limp mine w/ 40hp predator and level 2 on the juice.

I did get the 1093 code, along with the engine cutting out at 2000 rpm while driving and while in park. Turned off the engine, reset the code, and all is fine. I have been driving on level 2 for about 5-7000 miles.

So did u limp the tranny or just set an engine code.

If u limp it, it's only got 3rd gear and no reverse.

Shut it off and alls well til the next time ):h

Now that you mention it, I am not sure. I did not try reverse, and did not pay attention to what gear it was in. I just assumed that I limped the trans since the engine would cut out at 2000 rpm. What else causes this other than the trans in limp mode?

You threw a P1093.

No tranny limp. You will know it when you limp the trans. There will be no doubt. The trans will not act correctly. SHIFT RANGE INHIBITED or other such nonsense.

i am running the predator on extreme tune, have done a few 3rd gear burn outs, 4wd brake torque launches, and have yet to see any codes at all....

It takes time...soon you will limp your trans. Even if you are not limping it right now, you are destroying your clutches. Save your money like I am. you will need a new trans soon!!

I tried to get my truck to 1093 last weekend w/ edge on 5/5 and it wouldn't do it. It is all in the high psi relief valve and mine seems to be fine. If your edge makes your truck 1093, you have might have a bad valve. Only the higher hp tuners should make the "good valve" pop and set a 1093. Some have had 1093's on the Predator at 100hp. JMHO

Some do some don't set codes, I had a bunch for a month or two, then maybe one every couple of weeks.
Running B10 and didn't set any for 2 months.
I've gotten 2 in the last week.

Need to get me a 20mm nut and fix it.

The Ally is the BEST tranny in the big three in stock form.

$2000+ to hold close to 500rwhp isn't bad.

I know lots of gassers that WISHED they had that problem (500rwhp).

Managed to set the 1093 again yesterday while passing a car on the freeway. Outside temp was in the 90s on each occassion. I then tried to set the code again coming home late evening when it was cooler, but could not. I changed the fuel filter today at 12K miles. It will be in the 90s again on Monday, so I will be curious to see if I can set the code again on a new filter & pred level 2.

IF my memory serves me correctly,
Got a 1093 just cruising on the freeway at about 75 one evening, and it wasn't hot out. This was shortly after buying the Predator. I only had a few hundred miles on it (the tune) at the time. This at level 2 (economy)

After throwing the code, it Held about 65mph, (2,000rpm) until I got to an off ramp to reset the code.

But 8,000 miles later, it's never happened again, and I have towed level 1, and generally run level 2 while unhitched, but I must say, I HATE the smoke at ANY of the tunes. ANY acceleration sets off a LARGE "plume" of embarrasing smoke that envelopes the drivers behind me who are probably cussing about what a 'polluter' I am.

ANd none of the 'tunes' makes for better fuel economy, whether towing or driving the highway, and I have faithfully kept my "foot" out of it, just to see. And forget using the DIC, (which is worthless anyways). But with any tune ~ the DIC is basically an arbitrary information (or lack of information) display. Just a bunch of numbers, that mean nothing! It says I used 10 gallons and I am on empty. Had two of these trucks and the DICs, well , that's a whole 'nuther discussion. BUt as far as I'm concerned, the DIC is a waste 'upgrade' money.

BACK TO THE SMOKE>>>>>>
My understanding is that this is "unburnt" fuel, from the FAQ at Diablo's site. That is not very exciting to me. I wish I knew more about the technical side of this. ANyone else have this? I mean the HUGE amount of smoke a acceleration?
