Over the past week we have recieved this message. The first time we were pulling our 8 ton 5th wheel camper and had drove for approximately an hour and a half when it came on we had just left a stop light and started to climb a slight incline it was a 85 degree day. We were 3 miles from home so we continued only able to go 20 mph with minimum horsepower. The engine temp. never rose the oil pressure seemed to slightly drop. We crawled home let it run for 5 minutes and shut it down for 2 hours left again for a 20 mile trip and it ran fine.
We took it to the Chevy garage had the internal and external transmission filter changed the transmission flushed and changed the oil and filter changed and the fuel filter changed.
Drove it 5 miles back to the campsite ran fine and Sat while we camped for two days. Went to leave with our fifth wheel got a half a mile down the road same error came up.
Has happened multiple times since seems to reset it self when you shut down the engine, but speratic as to how long it will run okay.
Truck has 104,000 miles and is currently at the Chevy garage again where no codes are coming up for them nor is the problem occuring for them.
Any suggestions don't feel like stopping in the middle of the highway anymore with our toyhauler

No codes at all? Just reduced power message in DIC? Never a clean exhaust filter or anything like that? No CEL? Odd to have a Engine reduce power message with no CEL. Chris
Have you modified anything in the truck?

Is your truck stock? Still have a DPF? Might help the smart guys here figure it out if you describe your truck completely.
Only thing I've learned here is when in doubt, change the fuel filter. Maybe even twice!
Dump out &/or cut open the old filter to check for water, rust etc.

My truck is stock, with 19.5's and my check engine light came on with redused power twice in past 2wks,first time was empty,no load second time was pulling my boat, about 3700lbs.only lost power for few seconds while pulling boat, then it ran fine.took it to the dealer and the light was out,the mech. scanned the truck, found that the EGR was sticking a little.could be your problem also, but i would think if your dealer scanned your truck they would have seen that, even if light is out.(I have 57000 miles)

Thanks just picked it back up from the garage, they put over 250 miles on it without it occuring again. Nothing came up when they hooked it up to the computer nor did it have a memory of any codes, we're all stuck scratching our heads at this point. The truck is stock besides adding a reese hitch and the perculate convertor was removed from the exhaust.

are you saying the DOC (catalytic convertor) has been removed with a DPF still in place? Does the mechanic guy know this? I want to say if it is that is probably your problem. The DOC is where the main heat is generated to burn of the soot in the DPF. I believe without it the DPF would get plug and not get cleaned out. But a message ussually appears on the DIC.

Really not to sure what the DPF is but it was the Particulate Filter that was removed
, but the shop does know the convertor was removed before we purchased it and still no message in the DIC.

DPF=Diesel Particulate filter. There is or suppose to be a DOC=Diesel Oxidation Catalyst(cat/ known also as a convertor ) in front of the DPF. So this means a program has been installed to remove codes and stop the regen from occuring right? Might want to fill your signature so we can see what has been done, makes it easier for people to help you out. Then again you might not know what has been done if you bought it used. You will most likely have problems without a programer and cause the limp mode you are having. Do a search for DPF delete and read it, you will understand it better.

Problem RESOLVED!!! Finally, Chevy garage couldn't get a code, but an awesome small town repair shop did! Ended up being a MAP sensor that went bad they replaced it fuel milage is up and truck is running great. Apparently a few mods have been done to the truck wish we had more info sucky part about buying used.
