Under heavy accelleration, my 05' LLY blows some black smoke until at normal RPM's for wheel speed. Is this normal? The truck has 5800 miles...

both of our 05's do, mine will fog out an intersection if I set on it right.

its a diesel. the black smoke u see is extra fuel! its nothing to worrie about! just enjoy. soon you will be adding power up grades and your truck will smoke like a train. and u will lover every second of it

Also works good for some smart @ss in a sports car that has his window down... Blow a nice cloud right in the window as you roar by!

Yep... The Duramax is very smoke-free compared to most diesels. A friend of mine has a Cummins that has blown black smoke from day one without always being at WOT even.
