Has anyone taken a completely stock 2500 cc/sb either LT or SLT trim level across the scales?? The reason I ask, ND wrote their lift law really strangely. The way it's worded is "any vehicle seven thousand pounds or less" has to comply with bumper height, cargo deck height, no lift greater than 4" etc.. But I can't find anything in the century code that states for vehicles over 7,000lbs.

It usually goes by GVWR, which a 2500 is 9200 lbs.

Are you sure that they are going by actual weight as measured on a truck scale? Most weight ratings are based on GVW, which on the 2500 is 9,200 lbs. Just confirming which number they are using could give you your answer.

If it is by scale weight, you are probably right around 7,000 pounds empty. I know that my cc/lb 4wd with that 8' tool box in my avatar, is right at 8,000 pounds with a 3/4 tank of fuel and my 220 pounds in the drivers seat. I estimate the the tool box and tools weighs in at 600 to 800 pounds.

I bet that you are so close to 7,000 pounds that you can tweak things to make it go either way that is best for you. A full load of fuel for you is 160 pounds so if you are trying to get under 7K then go empty and causally step out of the truck to get weighed. If you want to read heavy, then top it off, slide in your biggest receiver hitch and toss some heavy stuff underneath the back seat. (If you still need more weight, then I'll send you my sister-in-law to ride shotgun).

Yeah they are going on actual scale weight and not registration. They also state you can not add ballast. It has to be be over 7000lbs from the factory.

Thanks!

I know there aren't alot of people from ND here but the ones that are and want to read more go here (http://www.legis.nd.gov/cencode/t39c21.pdf) and its 39-21-45.1. at the bottom of page 19(warning its not the most interesting read)

Ummm, a 1/4" steel sheet in the bed, under the liner will make sure it meets the weight...
Lots of places on the chassis where lead could fit... A lead pig in the receiver will add some weight... Fill the spare tire with water... Think like a drug runner!

lol that would work for the initial registration. I just want to cover myself just in case. I don't want to have someone rear end me, sue me and win because I had a truck on the road that by law shouldn't have been.
