Check out the Edge products evolution cs. Intake not as needed. Exhaust will help esp. when hauling.

I have a Edge Juice with attitude CTS so its the 4 inch touch screen and has the hot unlock Im looking to get rid of. It is a awesome chip and really easy to use and you can adjust on the fly. It helped my truck out about 4-5 MPG. I ran this chip without a exhaust and it ran fine now have a 5" mbrp and it helped quite a bit. If your interested just PM me. Thanks

"For what your looking for the best programer for the money is Dioblo Sport Predator."

I asked the same question over a year ago when I first found this site. I researched quite a few tuners, and went with the Diablo Sport Predator.

It's not only a tuner, but a scan tool as well, and will re-set codes if/as needed.

Anyhow, my truck has minor mods, 4" stainless exhaust and the EGR block off deal. Fuel economy was right at 14.6 for all driving.

I installed the 85hp tune, and upped the shut off to 150mph. I also adjusted the speedometer exactly for my tires, another nice feature of this unit.

At the same time I installed a Transgo Shift Kit, as I wanted the additional holding power to the clutches before hitting them with any additonal power.

The short version of the long story is that fuel mileage is just over 20mpg's for all driving. It goes up to about 21-22 on long trips empty, and seldom falls below about 18mpg's for mostly city driving.

I towed my 24' car enclosed car trailer loaded with 6 full size Harley Davidson motorcycles to Daytona Fla last fall. It was right around 13mpg's, and we didn't cut it any slack anyplace on that run.

I don't "beat" on this truck, and still to date haven't hammered it full throttle from a stop, or let the engine go past about 3000rpm's for any reason. There is no need, it has more power than I need at every level.

Anyhow, I couldn't be happier with the Predator tuner, not the first issue with the tune install to date......Cliff

I also had the Predator before I got EFI live, I bought it used on here from another member. The Predator is really tough to beat, especially for the price. I saw a 2 mpg increase. Plus the hottest tune absolutely rips, more than enough unless you plan to get real crazy down the road.

I have had equal luck with the Hypertech tuner. Have a good day.

For what your looking for the best programer for your application is the Hypertech Max Energy. With our unit you can program back to stock and let the dealer service the vehicle and then just reprogram it. We usually see anywhere from 3 to 5 mpg gain according to our customers. But that depends on that lead foot hehe.
Hypertech Tuning
Stage 3 +95 HP @ 2900 RPM
Stage 2 +62 HP @ 2750 RPM
Stage 1 +46 HP @ 2850

Are those numbers an average at the wheels added or supposed crank hp added.

Hypertech claims about power are pretty honest, at least in my case. The truck in my sig runs as claimed just like I drive it on the street, I did not lower the t-bars or the tire pressure, just drove it off the line. I have a K+N drop in and I removed the "kitty", all else is completely stock, I didn't even take my tools out of the back.

These power gains are to the rear wheels....

Go into Marketplace check chips and tuners. Used prices work just fine save half and you go on buy the next one same way. Let someone pay the retail first and take the used one putting other items on the truck. Just my way I guess it's money and it adds up paying retail all the time. Good luck........

For the PPE being the hot ticket there sure are a lot of used ones for sale, just about sprung for one but still expensive for my taste.Just purchased a Hypertech Econ with free upgrade to MAX,SAVED $50 with free upgrade plus the Econ can be had very cheap right now.Installed this A.M .,first test run to check EGTs running empty 60 mph up a 7% grade dropped 70* versus stock 990*.Mileage runs to follow in the weeks ahead followed with a Labor Day trip pulling the 12,000 lb. fiver. The truck has 45,000 miles on it with mpg recorded very accurately,3,000 with the fiver behind and keeping an eye on EGTs.Hope it pans out well, might be just the ticket for those running their trucks in stock form!

Just try the PPE 225 tune and you will see the light. Hype is fine for low power uses but for what that truck has the Hype won't get it done. PPe's sell the most and have the resale record. EFI is the bigtime resale seller it appears in Marketplace...

See what light, the one above the tranny shop, sorry but I am just trying to find a tuner for the guys that are running stock and also pull a trailer and have no interest in pouring money into projects just to keep their truck running.Like I said hopefully the HYPERTECH pans out in that way and if it doesnt I WILL SURELY GIVE A REPORT ON IT.

You'll be happy with the Hypertech. I had one in my 05 LLY and now have a Hyperpac in my 07 LBZ. The Hyperpac has the same tunes as the Hypertech, it just has a monitor. I've towed my heavy 5th wheel with both trucks and never had any problems. You can tow on Level 3, but I leave mine on Level 2 all the time because level 3 seems to make the motor a little noisier. Level 2 seems to have just about as much power in the lower rpms anyway and that's where I drive. I'm not a tire shredder.
I went with Hypertech because I wanted a little more power, towing capabilities and better MPG, and not have to worry about trashing a tranny or frying pistions. I haven't been disappointed.

I'll add my 2 cents. I had the Hypertech and I totally hated it! If you just drive around normally I guess it's ok. I didn't like how if you needed to accelerate to pass or get out of some ones way the power would all of a sudden come on around 2200 rpm and it would jerk you around the seat. If you do any wot runs the defuel between shifts are terrible, the first time I tried one when it defueled I thought I was going to hit the steering wheel.
Get the Predator MUCH better programmer.

Not sure what your trucks problem is but mine shifts fine with no "jerking", is it possible you didn't let the tranny learn long enough? Power is from idle up also.

Did the tranny learn just like the manual said, used the programmer for around 5000 miles. Started with the lowest setting and worked my way up with the power all levels did it. Had to return to stock for a trip to the dealer for an egr motor and the truck ran fine. Put programmer back in SOS. Called tech support and they were no help. Bought a Predator and everything is great.
