Got some new tires today, 315/70/17 Bridgestone Revo 2's to replace my H2 stockers. Only have about 10 miles on them and compaired to my BGF's they are way more nimble in the steering. Of course my BFG's have about 65K miles on them and were worn down pretty good.
My question is, I noticed on the sidewall it says 65 max psi but the truck calls for 65 front and 80 rears. I have been doing alot of heavy hauling and wanted to go back to the E rated tires. Will it damage the tires to inflate the rears to 80 PSI?
Opinions?

You should never exceed the mfg's maximum pressure on the sidewall. The ratings on the door of the truck are for the OEM 245/75/16 tires.
Are those Revo's D or E rated? My Bfg's are D-rated so they list 65 psi max, however the load rating is very similar to stock IIRC.

They sound like " D " rated rather than "E "

They are E rated, but only have a capacity of 65lbs., 121S I believe, which is rated for 3195lbs if I'm not mistaken. I've been considering these tires in the 285/70R17 size, but I'm also concerned about the 65lb max psi. I would not over inflate the tires at all under any circumstances. As Rebel pointed out, that's just the recommended rate for the stockers, but they only have a 3042lb rating with the 245's that came on my truck, so 3195 is an improvement. The stock 17" Bridgestone Duravis M700 HD's are 121R rated which is also 3195lbs, but they can hold 80psi? Wish I understood more about why one tire with same rating, but holds different psi? Chris

I'm not certain about that either, but I would venture a guess it has something to do w/ the geometry of the tire. Seems a lot of the narrower tires have higher PSI ratings than the wider sizes.

Yes, they are E rated which is why I bought them. First E rated tires I have seen with such a low inflation pressure. They are 3195 single tire load rated. I have always been one to go off the tire pressure rating instead of the vehicle pressure reccomendation but generally speaking on most lighter vehicles that means more pressure via the tire mfg ratings. This is the first for me having it reversed aside from when I got the d rated bfg's for this truck.

I'm in the exact same boat right now as you are. Maybe that's why I'm having such a hard time pulling the trigger on a new set! I always like to overdo it a little. 3195lbs is higher than my 3042 stockers, but 3750 lbs is even better, which is what the Nitto's and Hankooks are that I'm also considering. I would imagine the 65psi max tires would ride better than the 80's. In the winter I run less than 65psi anyways, so that's not a concern, I live with the TPMS light on. It's the towing I'm concerned with? Maybe unnecessarily? Chris

These were the only 315-70-17 e rated tires I could find.

Must be the size of your tires, my REVO2 tires are 265 75 16 and they have 80 PSI on the sidewall and are E rated.

Larger tires in a e rating take 65psi that is normal its because there is so much volume. I had e rated 305/70/16's that were 65psi max. If you look at a set of say 38/12.50/16.5 in d rated they only take 40 psi and a normal (small) size d rated takes 65psi. They will be fine at 65psi thats the psi they rate them at for holding 31XXlbs.
