I knew this would happen but what the hell. I have the PPE Hot box. Started with level 1 then level 2 tune. Now I want to run Level 3 (130HP) on a stock tranny. (yes, I know. Tranny will be done but timing of it will not happen till this fall.) My question is I do not take this beast to the track. just commuting. Once or twice a week now I get stoplight with a Dodge or Ford and even though nothing has come close I want to occasionally run a Mustang or Camaro in lvl 3. Can I drive it around 99% of the time under "normal circumstances" i.e. no racing and have little to no impact on my tranny or am I asking for trouble the 1% of the time I let it rip?

Downshifting from 5 to 4 at WOT will cause the most wear.
5 dragstrip passes on "Kill" hosed the stock Allison in "Casper".

Goalnightx- Careful man, you are walking on thin ice. You can run it. For how long??? Be prepared to shell out some cash for a new tranny if you run it hard. Good luck!!!

What McRat and DSTRBD said. I know from experience also. I had the Edge on 5/5 (125hp) and limped it on a 5/4 downshift. It worked for a little while but eventually got me.

I'm going back to level 2 from your advice.
BTW, there are no more mosquitos in Omaha, NE. This thing on level 3 smokes like a freight train chasing a forest fire up a mountain......

You guys are frying them (trannies) on the 5-4 downshift at WOT, does that mean your driving around in 5th, hammer down and the truck downshifts to 4th and then limps the tranny? Just trying to figure it out. I still have my fingers crossed Lakingslayer.

That's exaclty what happened to mine. On the downshift the TC unlocked with a large clunk and I was stuck in 4th gear.

I just bought a regular PPE lly programer for my '05. I'll be using the lowest setting till I get a cat-back exhaust for it. Looking forward to seeing smoke!

I see. Well for all it's worth, I try never to let that happen with mine. I do some mild/wild stuff with my truck but never when it's in 5th gear. Maybe that's why I haven't fried mine yet. (knock on wood!)

If I were you I'd spend less time knocking on wood and more time saving for a trans. upgrade:p:

Knocking on wood is cheaper.;) Maybe this fall when I sell some livestock I'll have the extra coin to splurge on a tranny.
