Techs: What actually fails inside the injectors? Is it the same thing usually or multiple parts inside the injectors that fail?

Thanks,

There are a few discs (washers) between the low side and high side chambers. these have been redesigned by Bosch. The (seats) are no longer cracking as they were. You can stop by any G.M. dealer and ask the diesel tech(if they have one) if they are changing as many injectors as they used too. Since all I do is trucks, I am not replacing anywhere near what I did a year ago.

This is the first GOOD NEWS I've heard about these injectors. So if I understand you correctly, Bosch HAS REDESIGNED some of the internal injector components. Do you know were we can get more info on this?

Also, about how long ago did you become aware of this redesign? Should all of the injectors GM replaces now incorporate the NEW DESIGN?

Thanks for the hope.....):h

Thanks, this is by far the most informative post about injectors yet. My 2003 is in the shop right now for all 8 injectors.

Bosch is paying the bill for ALL failed injectors. Bosch makes the injectors for detroit diesel and the are running almost 40,000 P.S.I . I recommend stadines additive and a pre filter, there are lot's of good ones out there. As a G.M. tech, I can't tell you which one to use. G.M. of Canada Has advised there dealers if they suspect fuel quality issues, put in the pre filter at the frame where the fuel cooler is, a Filter, the highest price I have seen so far is 279.95$ without installation
