First of all I haven't run out of fuel since was in highschool, but I need to know. I had a close call a week ago pulling my 5th wheel so here I am asking, this is my first diesel.

Assuming I have 5 gallons of diesel with me, what do I do if I run out of fuel ?

(This isn't a LMM specific question but didn't know where to post it.)

You get to prime it pushing the button on top of the fuel filter in and out until it firms up.

Fuel filter is on passenger side near the firewall. The primer pump is on top. Barely see it in the lower left of this pic.

Not recommended you use ether on these with the intake air heaters; things can go boom.

I accidentily ran mine out last year. If it's the same as the 04, you are supposed to loosen the little plastic bolt on the of the filter mount and then pump until fuel comes out. It only takes about 2 minutes if you know what to do. It should also spell it out in the manual.

So I just dump the 5 gallons into the tank and keep pumping the prime on the top of the fuel filter until it firms up ? I'm a DIY guy so I've installed the wheelwell access panel and changed the fuel filter before. I imagine I will have to use the bleeder screw to allow any air out ?

That's it ?

Yes open the bleeder screw till fuel comes out. tighten up screw and press till firm.

Yep. Same procedure if you ever open the rail for injector install, PPE valve install, etc.

Dump the 5gal of spare fuel you're carrying in before it runs out?

A hell of a lot less headache IMO. :D

Note: Refill spare container and top off tank at nearest fuel station.

Just the reason I'm looking into a "Titan" tank. The 25 gal fuel tank is a cruel joke.

trucks no good anymore. engine is shot, gonna cost at least 40 grand to fix it.
You should sell it to me for 1000.

P.S.
I would not have posted this if others had not already covered the process of prime.

I agree, 35gal should be the starter tank with either a 50+ upgrade or dual 35's.

At least the newer ones have a 36gal. tank. That a start.
