Has anyone installed a power tailgate lock in an '05 Silverado? If so, any suggestions as to brand or supplier or notes on the installation? I tried the search but found nothing there. :help2:

LyleP, I installed 2 pop and lock electric tailgate locks on mine and my neighbors truck.
They took us 3.5 hrs to install on both. I had both in the driveway,started on my neighbors truck first, then mine. The hardest part was running the wires from the lock to the drivers door panel to the door lock wires. The pain of it all was feeding the wires through the rubber boot of the door hinge. I like the fact that I can lock and unlock the tailgate from the key-fob. It also works with the door lock delay. I also have a locking tonneau cover, nice to be able to lock the bed up when at places.

Thanks Jamie. I ordered my Pop and Lock from http://www.realtruck.com/products/accessories.php yesterday. I saw in the instructions that you have to go inside the door to wire it instead of under the dash like you could on the '03's and back. Are there any surprises waiting for me in pulling the door panel? Looks like I'll get to spend some quality time with my truck next week. :)

Not hard at all. You will be happy with it. Just remember to take your time and remove the things on the door panel that the instructions say very carefully. Because the plastic parts can be very brittle. Have fun and have a few beers in the process.:drinking: :beerchug:

If you have a crew cab you don't have to go into the door. Ext cab or regular cab you do have to go into the door.

Thanks Guys. Yep, mine's the ext. cab, so looks like a visit behind the door panel is in my future. Think I'll wait on the cold beverage until after the install is complete though!
