i've done the tranny fluid service in my previous 96 sierra 4L80E. drop the pan, replace the filter, re use OEM gasket. refill with same amount of fluid as i took out.
the allison - they say dont replace filter until rebuild. some say 100k.
its probably never been done.
i bought Amsoil torque drive fluid.
the internal filter and spin on from my GM supplier.
on the 4L80E, the filter was just pushed on, no fasteners.
how is this filter retained? anything i need to know? just lube an o ring and push on? im guessing that the pan pushes against it.
replace the pan, replace the spin on (lube gasket first), replace the same amount of fluid (thru the dip stick tube) and start.
is that it?
