ive read about guys using lbz cp3s as an upgrade for the lb7s. wondering if anyone can verify this and if so is there anything special i should know about the installation or if it bolts right up?? also looking at upgraded cp3s. any opinions?

I have an LBZ CP3 in my truck. It was done at Danville Performance in Indiana. As I understand it, the only difference between the two mechanically is the fitting coming out of the pump itself. One has a straight fitting and one has a 90 degree fitting, I believe. Electronically, the LBZ pump regulator runs on different voltages to control flow. This requires a tune modification to get the truck to run correctly. Since I had EFI it was a simple matter of modifying the tune. Without EFI it may require a license but you should talk to a vendor on that, it may be included in the cost. Mark and Larry at Danville were great, only had the truck a few hours and was on my way back home. I also was able to add about 1500 psi to my rail pressure without dropping on my big tune with this upgrade. Well worth it to me.

the only problem that u will have is that the solenoid on the lbz pump has the plug at a 90 degree and the one on the lb7 is straight so u will have to get a little creative with a pry bar maybe. and just a hint there are 4 studs on the botom of the intake pipe you should double nut and remove the ones closest to the front of the engine it will be easier to get the pump in and will not damage the threads on them. good luk be patient.
