: New front hub, now ABS is on ???

I just replaced the left front hub on my son's 1500 4x4. Now the ABS light is on. Is there some sort of computer reset (i.e. pull fuse), or turn the key and stomp on the gas like the Change oil light.

I know, I know I'm a Ford guy images/smilies/cool.gif(1996 F350) and honestly am not smart enough to drive the computer controlled vehicles, anyway.

Thanks,

Check the electrical connection on the hub, it's for the ABS. Maybe it's not plugged in or a pin is bent....

Did the light come on immediately? If so, BlueOx03 is right...it's probably the electrical connection to the wheel speed sensor. If it took a little bit of driving to light the ABS light, then you probably are not getting a signal from the sensor. Here are some other items to check: When you did the hub change, did the toner ring for the wheel speed sensor get removed with the old hub? Did you install it on the new hub before putting it on the truck? Is the sensor aligned to the toner ring? Is the sensor seated properly?

Good luck.

Thanks guys,

It came on immediatly. I will check the connections. He (18yrs) was SO proud of himself for fixing the hub by himself. I just pointed at what to do. Guess I need to check the connection. Hope it is only that simple.

We just pulled the old hub off and put the new one on. What it a toner ring? Is this something that comes on the new hub? We did take the dust shield off/on.

It's most likely just not connected or is a bad connection. I believe the ring and sensor is internal on these hubs...
