: Another exhaust question?
2500hd duramax 07-18-2005, 10:28 PM I have a 2006 I will be takig deliver of in a few days, and I want to put an exh. on it. I have searched all the threads, defiantly helpful.
I am looking at the MBRP and the Bully Dog. I have heard the Bully Dog(w/o cat) in person, sounds awesome, like a jet. I just listened to a clip of the MBRP and it sounds good, but I really couldn't tell if it had that same type of sound.
As far as quality and customer satisfaction wise, the MBRP has a better rap going for it so far, I have read alot of complaints about the Bully Dog as far as fitment and directions.
Thanks for the help.
Brandon R 07-18-2005, 11:43 PM I installed MBRB system 2 weeks ago, install real simple...... however had a bad drone inside of the cab at 1800-2000 rpm after putting it on, after losts of searching about " drone" i found some trucks will drone, some not and any exhaust will do it, all depends on what noise you can take, i installed a resonator on mine and took care of it. Makes the turbo spool real quick and egt 150-175 lower, all around a clean set up.
DSTRBD 07-19-2005, 10:26 AM 2500HD- I cant comment on the BD exhaust as I have never installed or ran one. I can tell you that the MBRP system fits like a glove and looks great. For the 04.5+ LLY motor you will want a cat back system. Then if you want to remove the cat, get the optional front-pipe and it will be a direct bolt-in and easy to swap in and out for dealer visits. Hope this info helps. Please dont hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.

You're not able to compare apples to apples on the sound. The Bully Dog does not have any cat provisions so most likely the one you heard was no cat and louder than the MBRP that had a cat in their cound clips. You need to look at the possibility too that if you pull the cat you have a chance of getting a check engine light too, the site here has a guy by the name of "fingers" that has the cure for that, but wanted you to know what might happen. If you pull the cat on a MBRP it'll actually sound better than a Bully Dog as it has a ceramic blanket and stainless steel wool packing material in the muffler, while the Bully Dog muffler is a hollow can which translates to a little bit of restriction and a "hollow" sound etc.
The MBRP system are availabel in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless steel and in singles and duals. Call us if you have any questions or concerns, we have been dealing with the LLY's and lights etc for a long time and will be able to help you.

Kennedy 07-19-2005, 11:18 AM Unless you feel the need to be "out in front" when a new release is made, I would suggest that you wait until it is discovered what works, and what does not. While it may act just like the present LLY, it is still an unknown and to say that SES lights can be easily adressed is simply a sales tactic and a shot in the dark...

What can you offer other then absolute speculation? Nothing,as it appears :rolleyes:
================================
The LLY has the torque converter in it that SHOULD be in the 2002, but I (and Suncoast) wanted to try the "Socal" style unit that many rave about. Time did not allow me to change the LB7 converter to something more favorable. The LLY pulled like a mother from the start. The LB7 got up quick and pulled hard at first, but once the turbo got going all it did was rev until we finally hit enough speed to lock up the TCC and then it finally started to pull hard. I also think that it actually went better after I switched down the power level near the end. Seeing Darrell's transmission temps, and knowing how bad I was thrashing the converter, I decided not to try again. all rights to the Diesel Page
On anouther note since you'll be checking back
Get the TTS TC look a like out of the 02 yet,apparently you and Joe haven't (R&D) got it right? Why did you not use the Co-Pilot on board or better yet use Tow Haul,or are you just :o: a TTS Xtreme beat you in "the" pull off ?
):h At you,just for the lame excuses
