Just thought I'd start this thread in hopes that it might be of help to some of you Dmax owners. A couple of weeks ago mine developed what appeared to be a rough idle and progressed into surging at low speeds as well. After changing the fuel filter and unplugging my Juice it was still there. At times it was so bad that at idle the engine would buck violently and the engine was surging at all speeds. I finally took it to my dealer. Their diesel guy listened and then had me pop the hood. He then proceeded to go right to the problem. There is a wiring harness coming up from the front of the engine that is wire tied to a bracket just to the left ( as you are looking at the engine from the front ) of the alternator. The harness had rubbed through and wires had become exposed and insulation had worn and were shorting out intermittantly. The mechanic said he had seen this several times. Hopefully this may be of help to those having similar problems. This may have been addressed before in another thread but I did not see it. :help:

Thanks
Steve

I will try to post some pics but may take a week as I will be out of town. Also I have never done the picture thing so it may take a while to figure out how. But will give it the ol' try.
