Anybody running a NBS Chevy/GMC with a 7" lift on 35" tires and still able to haul a fifth wheel toy hauler or similar full body trailer? Long bed or short bed? Clearance issues? Flipped axles?

Most lifted trucks need the trailer axles "flipped" to get the trailer to tow properly. Not a difficult job just a little time consuming. Biggest issue is usually keeping the trailer under 13'6" tall. Many times a Low Profile AC unit is needed to keep under 13'6".

I read this thread and wanted to make a comment. I have a stock truck with no lift and am finding that I will need to lift the trailer. I hate to raise the center of gravity but the trailer is about 3 inches too low.. I would hate to think if I got bigger tires what this would do.. Trailer I have a Weekend Warrior CL40.

Remember, if you need 3"s of lift on the trailer, you will need tires that are 6"s taller to accomplish this. That's a lot of extra tire to squeeze in there. Is there 6"s between the front and rear tires on the trailer?

It's a balancing act... I think I will end up flipping the axles to get 5 - 6 inches on the trailer. Then I will go with truck tires that are 1.5 taller. I have a 3500 but with 2500 wheels and tires.

I posted on that thread but didn't realize until I was done that it landed there and not here!! To re-cap..one person stated that he felt safety was not compromised by flipping the axles and adding and extra 6" or so to the overall height of the trailer in order to get it to fit onto a lifted truck. I'm playing Devil's Advocate and asking how can you figure safety isn't affected when you just added to the overall height and have to consider low overpasses, higher profile in windy conditions, trailer sway due to emergency manuevering, etc. And do you still get the 6"+ of space between the truck bed and trailer? The only reason I ask all this is because I too have considered going bigger with my truck but these were some of my reasons for not doing so. Just my .02

The ideal situation is one which nothing has to be done and the stock height works out for the trailer and truck. The issue I have is the stock non lifted truck is too high and my trailer is on the lower side. Flipping axles will give me 4 - 5 inches of more space. I wish I didn't have to spend time or money on this but lower or getting a 2 x 4 truck is out of the question.

Have you tried adjusting your hitch height? Just a thought.

Yes. Any lower than what it is and it hits the bed of the truck. I have had to bump it up more than normal to make it into my drive way. If it wasn't for my drive way, I could lower the hitch and get the trailer level.

How about a set of 245/75/16's just for towing?

I already have 245/75/16 pizza cutters, which came with the truck. I'm going back to the stock 265 size and flipping the axles on the trailer. I just delivered the trailer to the shop today with instructions. Maybe in the future i will park it somewhere else if the lift is out of hand.
