I want to take the black plastic mouldinsg that are on my door off. Whats the best way to take them off. And how to you get the adhesive off?

I used thin braided fishing line (20# Fireline) from Wal-mart . put it behind moulding and see saw away. squirting with spray liquid wrench behind moulding as you see saw makes the job easier. the liquid wrench in spray can with a rag takes off the remainder of adhesive very well also,or so does goo gone, then wash with soap and water and wax and then it will look like it was never on your truck.Fire line or other braided fishing line is very strong & thin.

I just got my fingers behind one end and pulled them right off. I didn't want to scratch the paint with the fishing line as there is (was) a lot of dirt behind them.

I used W-D 40 to remove the glue

I used a small space heater to soften up the glue and pulled mine right off. Then I heated the glue a little bit and just rolled it off with my finger.

A hair dryer or slight use of heat gun is the fastest and easiest way. They will come off with one hand that way. If you heat them up enough all the glue comes off with the molding. When I did mine I had not one bit of glue left on the truck.

I think mine looks naked! :D That was the first thing I noticed at the dealer last night,,, NO moldings....

On my last 6 trucks I had them and they protected my doors for parking lot dings.... I was going to by some for just that reason protection...

I think they would look ok if they went wheel well to wheel well instead of stopping at the back of the cab.

I agree... They would look better wheel to wheel. I really like how they stop door dings so As soon as I can find some white ones ....... :D

Just use a credit card or something to pull the edge back on a 100 degree day. Grab it and pull it off. The glue even went with the molding, all I needed to do was rub my hand over where it was and get rid of the mud marks behind it. Mine were entierly full of mud...

Interestingly, my window sticker said Summit white, but the back of the moldings says olympic white. Evidently these are the same.
