Is there a kit available that has just the valves that installs in the stock valve body? I saw a picture of all the parts for a SC IV and V kit. It only shows the valves, not the body. Would this work the same as installing a new valve body? Sorry, new to tranny mods.

I am looking to get a BD or a SC valve body for my truck, along with a Transgo shift kit for my truck. My question is, is this a good mod to do to my tranny? I am not looking to go over 500RWHP, and tow under 10k. I also make trips upstate and the tranny normally does alot of down shifts and up shifts on the mountain roads. Will these mods help with what i listed above? Also, i read that the Valve body is about a 2 hour job. What kind of install is this? Do I just remove the old one and put in the new one or is it more involved? What kind of a job is it to install the Transgo shift kit? Does the tranny need to be removed from the truck? How long of a job is this? I will be doing this with a friend, he has 35+ years experience with trannys. He has never worked on a duramax though.

There are no valve body mods for a 5 speed that will do much good. There are things in the front rotating assembly ( front drum ) that need to be addressed and the converter to do any good. Don't waste your money.

Mike, Changing out the stock VB to a SC VB wont do any better then what I have now? Can you give me more info on the front drum?
Also, What about the TransGo kit?

The Suncoast valve body is a blue printed unit that will function as it should. It contains the Transgo jr. It is a tested unit that will work properly and increase pressure to the C3/C4 clutches. Alone, that is not enough to help very much on the 5 speed trans.
