Hi everyone--- Im looking to buy an MBRP 4" 409 SS exhaust for my truck.. You can either get an exhaust for a "2001-2004.5 LB7" or "2004.5-2005 LLY". Even tho i have an '05 LLY wouldnt I just want to get the LB7 version of the exhaust (becuase I assume that kills the kitty, versus the "04.5-05 LLY" exhaust systems which are most likely cat-back)??? That would be the only reason they have different exhausts for different years, correct? All the mounting is the same, just one accounts for the cat and the other is a turbo-back. I dont think they changed any mounts etc. with the LLY's so couldnt I just get the 2001-2004.5 LB7 MBRP exhaust to get rid of my cat?
Many thanks--- Ben

MBRP offers a cat back (S6000409) or down pipe back (S6004409) system. The down pipe back system will get rid of the cat, but not make it very easy to swap back in for dealer visits, inspections, etc. Most 04.5+ guys get the cat back system and if they want to delete the cat, they get the optional front-pipe which is a cat delete pipe that is a direct bolt on. Makes it much easier to swap in and out. Also, if you do pull the cat, you may set a few EGR codes (P0401 & P0404). If your SES light comes on, you will need a "finger stick" to get rid of it. Hope this info helps.

Silverline makes an excellent system. They are offered in either down-pipe back or cat-back configurations. They are currently working on a cat-delet pipe for the 04.5-05 LLY guys making it easy to swap your cat in and out.
