Plavan Petroleum in San Diego is hosting a biodiesel promotional event.

I wish I could make it.........maybe be some good deals there for bulk.

$2.65/g at the pump (B20)

Not a bad price at all, considering that regular diesel around here is 2.70/g.

RTC currently is running 2.77 for B20.

2.65 is cheaper than ARCO which is at 2.69.

The cardlocks are around 2.60....so they are only 5 cents higher.

I have you gone there yet?

Ron, I havent gone there. I called about a year and a half ago, and they wanted something like 3.50 for B100. But then again, this was long before anyone knew of a tax break.

So I guess I should call again.

But I get the idea that this pricing may only be good for the promo (two saturdays).......

When I called the guy, he said it was "low NOx soy biodiesel." At the time, I thought what a load of BS, but now I know better.

Plavan petrol has a facility in Escondido as well.

I wish I could make it down for the promo, but as luck has it, ill be out of town for both of those saturdays. poop.

Let me know what you find out if you talk to them.....

good luck

OH NO!!!

Guess who claims the only "Low Nox soy Biodiesel"?????

Hint: He is in Ventura!!

He told me it is an additive...that he adds himself.

He also told me he sells to Mcormick Oil in Santa Barabara...so I am wondering if he is PLavan supplier....remember he brings the stuff by rail car...not local stuff.

Very interesting......

But I am thinking that since this is a "BioWillie" event/promo, the fuel sold will be from Willie. I heard that in Carls Corner, TX, the B20 is the same price as the B100.

Heres a quote from the PDF: "The B20 blend, which is a mixture of transesterified soybean oil and regular diesel fuel has been selling 5 to 20 cents higher than #2 diesel fuel but the promotion is expected to provide area consumers with some pleasant price relief."

I just spoke with the guy.

B20 is all they have for this event, and it is 2.69. They are not currently authorized as a blender, thus they cannot take advantage of the nice fat tax rebates for B100 or bulk buyers.

They are doing this as a bit of a test to see how much support there is for biodiesel in the SD area. If all goes well, they (Plavan) want to take the data to a local station owner, and convince them to add biodiesel to one of his pumps.

So go!!!
