I've got a 2004 ext. 4x4 (see sig) and the drivers side rear sits 39 1/2 inches and the passenger rear sits 41 inches. Thats an inch and a half difference. My truck is completly stock. Anybody else seen this? Any fix? Do I have bad shock on that side? Truck has 24K miles.

Some of the un-levelness of your truck could be due to the poor tolerences in production at GM. My 2004.5 GMC has one side of the bed that doesnt line up with the lines on the cab ( it's about 3/4" off on one side, the other side lines up great ). Everything appears to be level, it's just that the fenders are different from one side of the truck to other.

I thought it was just my truck, untill I started paying more attention to other new GM trucks. There are lots of them that have the same problem that I have, some worse, some not as bad.

I would be curious to have you measure actual frame heights on each side to see if the frame is straight.

Make your measurements to fixed positions on the frame and be sure that tire inflation is equal. Do this on the front as well. I believe that you will find the drivers front to be low. Adjust the torsion bar up a bit and the RH rear will go down.

My driver front (39")is 1/2 inch lower than my driver rear. The passenger front is also 39. Tires are all inflated equally. EIther my passenger rear is too high or my driver rear is too low. What should the stock height be back there?

I could be that your driver rear leaf spring is sagging. When this happens it can pull up the passenger front side, which would explain why it's higher than your driver front side. I had this very thing happen on an old 70s Trans Am I used to own (they've got rear leaf springs too). When the driver side leaf went bad it actually lifted the passenger front by almost an inch. Had the leaf re-arched and all four corners settled to within about a 1/4 of each other.

A fairly new truck with a bad leaf seems a bit odd... but it is possible. Something to consider at least.

Hope this helps.

The driver's side is usually lower than the passenger's side. This is completely normal for the HD pickups.
