I went around and checked all my caliper slide pins and pads/rotors as heymccall suggests to do. I have 60,000 miles on at 2 years old. All the calipers slid easily on the pins although there wasn't much grease left on them so i put new synthetic brake grease on all of them. All the pads were free except the right rear inside, it seemed a little tight and it was worn slightly more than the outside pad. After cleaning the under the clips and such it moved more easily. I also cleaned under the other clips and there was no rust under it on the ear. I live in nothern Missouri, which is in the salt belt but everything was in pretty good shape and is now for sure. I guess my constant washing during winter months (when its warm enough) has helped.
However, I still get the typical rattle sound when hitting small bumps or holes driving down the street. Where is this coming from? I tried wiggling the calipers and there is no play or noise from them even when the pistons are retracted. The only thing I can wiggle are the pads themselves and there isn't much movement there. Are the clips the pads sit on a little worn? I just don't see how the pads can be tighter, or they wouldn't move. Thanks tfor help, I have very little brake knowledge.
