: Performance Injectors? Who's got em?

Hey guys.

I am thinking of buying the high flow high pop injectors that ssdieselsupply sales. He claims that you will gain 40hp with these injectors. Now I have seen everything from 10-40hp garutees on these things from different places. So what I want to know is who has these, and how do they perform? Were they worth the money, and did you get a pretty good boost in the butt meter?

Thanks John Kruckeberg

There seem to be mixed emotions on hi-pop or marine injectors. They do have a higher opening pressure, and atomize a bit better, but 40hp sounds a bit like a fisherman's tale. More efficient burn, yes, but 40hp? If you want more power, you need more fuel, atomizing better does help.

I think even 4hp gain would be a stretch, unless you were comparing them to a really lousy set you were replacing them with.

Well I have about all the fuel I can get to my engine now, and I plan on having my turbo rebuilt and supped up a little from extreme turbo, and one day an intercooler. So do you think it would be a waste of my money. As far as I know the injectors im ny truck have never been changed and it has almost 190,000 miles.

I find it to be well worth it. The crispness of the engine is greatly improved. Keep in mind, some people's idea of high pop may vary from others...

I was looking at ssdiesel supplies set of injectors. He says they are the marine injectors and when I e-mailed him I asked him why he claims 40hp while others claim 20 or less? He says they were "different" than other companys injectors and give a true 40hp. But it seems that this isn't possible by the replies I have recieved. So I guess I will go have my truck dynoed again before I get them and after and let yall know what the real world figure is to the rear tires!

I have hi-pops, never noticed anything on the install, once there popping again we'll see what kind of HP were making, with the new engine i hope to be breaking 300 HP easily.

Someone mentioned earlier they thought it was until it blew up, maybe it was bad luck to mention that. As to your suggestion its probably still more than 10 days till i get it back!!!

This is my $15000.00 fish!

Hey CR, what happened to the head on that fish!? :)

Seriously, sad to hear about your truck being down.

Sincerely,

Rob :)

How's the intercooler?

Still trying to figure out how you got to be splayed mains #1 in 2005 when I had them back in 2001...

Intercooler seemed to be working good for the lousy 600 km's i put on it and i thank you very much for sending it.
As to the splayed mains it seems everyone here is a member of something or other for some reason so i put it up there. I am definately not the first and will gladly remove it or change the number to #2...3....25.....1000..... whatever. I will probably remove it when i change my sig back once i'm up and running again anyways cause i'll run short on room.

yea I too am sorry for your loss CR. but on the bright side..... Nice fish! :D

Could you tell any power diff with your intercooler when you put it on either in acceleration or towing?

It seemed to have some more power both towing and driving but i didn't really get a chance to check it, it didn't pick it up as much as i thought it would but i'd have to say i had a weak engine to begin with and think just maybe i was losing compression past some rings or something. I did a 0-60 but wasn't recording when i first put it in and got around 11 seconds which was near the same as before the IC, then all i got to do was load up the trailer and hit the road 2 hours after the install. It never even pulled hard until i hit that 8% grade and then went kaboom. I was really hoping to see some damage outside the block but it stayed contained.
