Has anyone out there ever lowered their front suspension just an inch or so? The reason I ask is my truck won't fit in my new garage. My onstar antenna hits, so I figure I should do the next most logical thing... Lowering the front of my truck a touch so the antenna will clear. Plan B will be to remove the antenna altogether. I have as of yet to crawl under and see if lowering an inch would provide a negative impact on ball joint and steering system wear due to bad angles being placed on those components. I have read that people cranking their torsion bars for height run into all kinds of problems with limited downtravel, etc. I want to do the opposite just a bit. Any perspectives on this out there? And yes, I do intend to get it re-aligned. :) In fact, I plan to replace my pitman and idler arms while I'm at it. At 147,000 the steering is starting to have a little play in it. Nothing like my uncle's 1998 Dodge Ram but noticable. His Ram has about a quarter turn of play in it! :D

Many people have, shouldn't be a problem.

Sounds good. Things rarely go so easy for me... haha It's 3 turns per inch if I remember right...?

it is good to count the turns but using a tape measure between the top of the tire and the wheel well will work well too.

Think mine is 6 turns per 1/2 inch

I would go with 4 or 5 turns then go for a short ride, just around the block to accuratly see how much drop occured.Your truck is most likely not the same hieght on each side to start with (their not even from the factory)so a diffrent amount of turns may be required on each side. After dropping slightly you will most likely notice improvement in ride and handeling not a problem.

Most definitely I will tape measure it to make sure that I get it level. I tend to agree they probably aren't even quite the same from the factory, but I can change that now if I so desire. :) Glad to hear people have had good experiences turning it down a bit. If I weren't renting the place, I would engineer a better solution: A bigger garage. One with a 14' door to fit my semi would be ideal. :)
