Does the repair require dropping the trans? The dealer said that there is no repair required, just get used to it. 700 mi on a stock truck.

I beleive you have to take the tranny out for the TSB repair.

There is no excuse to having the dealer do it.

Yes, the transmission needs to come out. The repair involves changing parts in the hydraulic circuits between the bell housing and main case.

However, the MY05 should already have these parts installed. I believe the TSB refers to trucks prior to MY03.

Just so you know the repair doesn't fix the problem and 2004 and newer allison's already have the mods installed. I mention this because I just returned from the dealer having my '04 looked at and visiting with the area rep. Currently GM is working with Allison to find out what the issue is. I was told virtually all Allisons have this problem. Mainly shows up after the vehicle sits for at least 48 hrs or so. Those who use their trucks as daily drivers may never experience the problem because they do not let their vehicles sit long enough. The solution I worked out with GM is having them give me a free 100K mile warranty on the tranny. I suggest this course of action to force GM into more action. I have a 2004 Chevy 3500 CC/Duramax/4X4/LL with about 19,000 miles. Hope this helps everyone.
