Hi all,
Hope someone can give me a good recommendation ASAP. I twisted my drive shaft in two just in front of the rear differential at a truck pull yesterday. I got 2nd place, but the broken drive shaft wasn't worth it. Any recommendations on replacing with a GM alluminum shaft, or go with an aftermarket aluminum or steel shaft? Where could I find such an aftermarket shaft?
Truck is in the dealer now and I need to give him an answer as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance.

Checkout Denny's Driveshafts. Tell him what you have and what you are going to do with it. I believe he guarantees his shafts for life.

Big Max,
Thanks for the link. I talked to them and when I told them the length required, the amount of HP and the amount of TQ, he said they WOULD NOT BUILD A SHAFT FOR ME. They quarantee their shafts for life and they know when a shaft is going to break under certain conditions. He said a steel shaft that long (for an extended cab long bed) would break because of harmonic reasonce at high speed. The max diameter aluminum tubing he can get is 4 inches and that won't hold the HP or TQ.
Bottom line, he won't make me a shaft. They are 3 weeks back logged, so they make a LOT of drive shafts for all kinds of applications.

Here's the final result. Dealer (ex racer, builder, destroyer) talked with a couple of drive shaft builders and confirmed what I found out. Steel would be stronger, but harmonic resonance would destroy itself. No one can get alumininum in larger enough diameter and thick enough wall to make a stronger shaft. Bottom line, I'm putting a GM replacement back on the truck.
