while we are on the subject where is the best place that you all have found to mount the controller itself. i found the place to plug the pigtail in (i think) and the place to plug the fuse in on the outside box.
Thanks

:welcome2: Welcome to the board! I have a Prodigy mounted on the lower panel just to the right of the steering column. For me, it's out of the way and easy to get at.

If you get the plug n play cable, your limited to under the dash because of the length of the cable. I put mine to the right of the column, kinda sh**ty if you have to grab the manual brake in a hurry, not that it's bad, it's just you have sit up and I'm LAZZY):h
Better place I think is right in the small cubby in the center consol, have to cut a hole in there for the wires though-:t If I ever get around to it I'll post some pic's.

Center right under the steering column (below the dash) is 2 pre drilled holes that work out great to install the controller. You can see the controller really easily through the steering wheel.

IF it's down below the red light does not bother me much at night....

I put mine in the same spot as Reineke.

Ditto, same as ssduramax and Reineke. Did not want to drill holes in the truck. Plus if I need a new controller, I don't have to worry about new holes. The trailer dealer mounted it on the plastic knee panel in my 2002 suburban. Censored I hated it because when I sold the truck, I had 2 holes in the knee panel.:badidea:

I first installed mine in the middle under the steering wheel, but it was too low to see and operate. I ended up drilling the plastic on the right and mounted it all the way against the console a couple of inches above my right knee. Within easy reach of the controls, and decent visibility of the display.

Oh well on the two holes if/when I ever sell the thing.

Mounted my Prodigy left of steering wheel up high, top of controller even with armrest.Excellant visability and controls at your finger tips.Used holster supplied with the Prodigy and drilled two holes in plastic to fasten it,its only a truck!Best controller I have ever had and mounted where it is usable.Watch your knee getting in if your long legged but does not bother me.The Prodigy can be mounted up to 70 degrees from level so I took advantage of it.

On my '00 truck I had it on the left side of the wheel. Turned out to be a knee knocker. Most of the time, I could avoid the problem, but the service techs didn't have any trouble locating it with their knees. I was a little concerned with one of them breaking something.

When I bought the new truck I put it where you did. The holes in the old truck are scarcely noticeable unless you stand on your head..

Mounted my Jordan directly below steering column but into the metal as the dash slopes down and goes horizontal. That way it is attached to something other than plastic. Remember the Jordan uses a mechanical cable to connect to brake pedal, and I was concerned about the unit moving. I have towed over 8K miles with it now and zero movement, zero problems.
