Technically, you could just change the rear, however you would no longer have 4WD because you would have to disconnect the front drive shaft as your F&R gearing would now be mismatched.

Aprilwine is correct. Therefore, it's highly recommended to replace both the front and rear gears to keep 4wd functioning properly.
