P0046 and P2563.....
Tech 2 says vvt sensor, when commanded to 100%, still says 0%, but actual amps goes to 1.8 amps from 0 amps, desired 1.8 amps.At idle on its own, desired is 84%, actual 0%. If I command VVT solenoid on and off, I DO hear the exhaust pitch change. I am leaning towards sensor, but I dont know much about the dmax. Any help?????? Hope its not the turbo. 2005 dmax, Thanks

I had those same codes. It was the VPS (vvt sensor). The good news is, they are easy to change. The bad news is, they are like $400~$500.
I have a newish VPS, PM me if you are interested.

Where is the VVT sensor located on the turbo? A picture would be helpfull :(
Also is there a way to diag this without a tech 2?

The VPS sticks out of the top of the turbo and has a wire sticking out of it, hard to miss.
If you want to know for sure, you need a tech2 or EFIlive scan tool. But if you are getting P0046 and P2563 your more than likely going to replace the VPS, then it's off to the dealer or somebody with a EFIlive scan tool to force the turbo to learn.
