You probably will not get the light with fed emissions. It will set a code.

He's saying you won't get a light but you will get a code. You should have the fingers stick installed if you have a blocker plate.

If you have fed emissions, you will never know you set the code. If you have Cali or NE emissions, you will set the SES light. If you have to get your truck emissions checked, the code is grounds to fail your test.

I am about to bring my truck in for the recall and to get the software update done. I have not added my fingerstick yet, but I do have my plate in. Should I put the fingerstick in and bring it in? Will that cause problems with doing the software update? Or should I pull the plate and bring it in? I really would rather that all the soot backed up behind the plate doesn't go back into the intake by pulling the plate.

Safest is to remove the plate. Second best is install the stick and make sure the codes clear before you go.

My truck is emissions tested here (Davis county, Utah) every two years. I do not have a Fingers stick. I have a federal emissions truck. If I remove the blocker plate before taking it to be tested, will the code clear itself after a certain number of ignition/closed loop cycles? Should I/can I manually reset the code in order to pass my emissions test? If I installed a stick, could I keep the blocker plate in place and still pass the test (I would rather do this to keep soot out of my engine)?
Thanx!

like Fingers stated, but, either way, make sure you clear the codes before you go to get a software update.
I didn't clear the codes and they wouldnt give me a update, just cleared the codes for EGR problems and documented them and said if i had any more problems to bring it back. Censored . they also gave me a hard time about my grill insert and said they were going to document that too.Censored Censored .
There is (was) only one stealer close to D.C. that had a diesel tech when i went in also. next time i take it in will be to the dealer i have been buying trucks from for the past 6 yrs back in Alabama.
