I'm looking into my options for building my tranny, I think I want to do it myself, If I do build it my self I have decided on the ppe kit, Just wondering if it is worth it to go with the stage 5 kit or should I save the couple hundred bucks and go with the stage 4, and also wondering what kind of power you guys who built there own tranny's are running?

I went with a SC GmaxPac6 myself. What type of TQ converter are you going to run ?
Right now I have level 4 on the PPE Hot +2 dialed in and no issues whats so ever. Could go higher but will most likely pop a low fuel rail pressure code if I do.

I was told the ppe kit comes with an ML torque converter, not realy sure what that means but I need something that is good for everything from daily driving, to towing and even a day or two at the drag strip.
what converter do you suggest and what do you run?

Taylor... I just finished pullin everything outta my tranny right now and I do not think it is that hard and no special tools required. I should knock on wood right now because everyone knows if it is not re assembled right its not gonna work ha.

To you guys doing your own trans... Make sure you torque the VB down right... It is critical!

I'm running a suncoast Stage IV and a 1056 converter and it is good enough for daily driving, pulling a 10,000lbs trailer, and kick the shit out of the rice runners.:thumb:

Just finished mine up tonite, filled up fluid and reset trans with ppe. It's alive and well unless I blow a code later on but I would assume it would have already. Not sure if I would ever do another one just because of stress level of doing it and I'm only 20 lol.

How long did it take you guys to do the removal, and everything? I am looking at doing mine myself. I have access to a lift and most tools. Is there any tips you can give me before I attept this. I have not decided whether I'm going with a stage 4 or 5 from PPE. I will probably also be doing a deep pan and tranny cooler at the same time.
