Hello all I'm new to the list and GMC. I've been learning a lot here great fourm!!! Anyway.... I just purchased a 05 GMC Sierra 2500 HD with a duramax. My truck did not come with a pigtail for a brake controler and from the threads I've been reading it seems like it should have, is this the case should there have been a pigtail inluded with my truck?

seems like some do and some dont. maybe they forget to put them in or something?? my 02 Z71 came with one, my 03 2500HD did not, had to buy one as they changed it from 02 some how or other. my 04.5 came with one.

they don't cost that much IIRC.

some do some dont, I think a few get scooped up by sales and service people. Ask your salesman for one or any trailer place will have them. Just make sure you get the right year, they changed 2 wires a couple of years ago and the older ones dont work on an 05 truck. The one from the dealer should also have the fuse for the trailer battery feed, it goes where the bright red blank is at in the underhood electrical center.

The pigtail comes with the factory trailering package. The trailiering package is what puts the factory hitch on the truck. No trailering package, no pigtail. As for the older vs. the new, switching a wire fixes the problem. Search a bit an you will find the particulars. I think Max Power posted the info.

Thanks everyone. Mine had the towing package so I think it should have had it. The dealer lost everything in the glove box and both of the keyless entry fobs. So I'm guessing they owe me this as well, I'll have to talk to them about it tomorrow.

In addition to the pigtail and fuse, you should also have gotten a 7 pin to 4 pin trailer wiring adapter.
