Have a customer that just bought an 05. It started intermittenly running rough and/or dying when he got it home. Check engine light would not come on when it did this, ended up figuring out it was the edge juice causing that issue because when i drove it i noticed the attitude monitor would dimly come on and go off. Removed all the edge harnesses and he hasnt had a problem until yesterday. Was driving along with the cruise set and it all of the sudden "downshifted pretty hard" and died. He said it was almost like you turned the key off. It won't re-start and he says the check engine light is on with the key on. I havent had a chance to see the truck or hook up to it with a scanner. I am more of a cummins guy so i am by no means very sharp with dmax's yet. Truck only has 60,000 miles, could it possibly be an infamous injector harness issue? Just seeing if anybody has had this same or similar issue before i look at it myself. Any help is appreciated, Brian

can't speculate until you read the codes..could be a number of things. sounds like the engine limped.

Well he had to have it towed and it was one of those "if we tow it, we work on it" deals. The shop that it went to said they are as far as they want to go with it. They said it had several older codes in it but the main one that could not be cleared was a U1000. Loss of communication to the FIDM. obviously the truck still wont start i guess. Hopefully i will get time to look at it myself later in the week. Possible smoked FIDM? Thanks again in advance for any help. Brian

First off, its obvious they have no clue as to what they are doing. Our truck don't have a FIDM...there's a FICM, Fuel Injection Control Module and its possible its gone. Check the harness on top of the alternator first to see if its rubbed through and maybe split some wires.
