OK, I've been away from home since the beginning of May and I put my truck into storage when I left. I filled the tank all the way up before storing but did not put any additives in the tank.
Will I have any problems on start-up? Should I put anything in the fuel tank before I start running it again?
Thanks

I run additives every tank(or almost every). I'd run it and see how it does, maybe a biocide would be a good idea then a filter change afterwards.
More than likely though you'll be ok.

Gruffid,
If your truck was inside and not exposed to thermal cycling between sunshine & night, then you should have absolutely no issues. A couple of months should have no discernible effect on your fuel.
The exception to this would be if you had water in the sump of your tank and/or filter. This could allow for the growth of micro-organisms that could plug your fuel filter. If you are concerned, I would drain a sample from the fuel filter & check it for water or cloudy, discolored fuel. Run that tank out & replace the filter if you are still concerned.
Even so, there wasn't sufficient time for microbial growth unless you had a real problem to begin with.
When I ran 6.2's, 7.3's, big Detroits & Cats, I used to use Power Service (tm) Diesel Fuel Conditioner and had good results. The Power Service DFC was also useful in extremely cold weather to prevent fuel jelling and to thaw out already jelled fuel systems.
I have not checked to see if the Power Service DFC is compatible with the Duramax's high pressure fuel system.
As a side note, personally, I would avoid any type of fuel injector "cleaner" with the Duramax, even the one that Power Service makes. I have had VERY poor results with "diesel injector cleaner" products.:badidea:
If Power Service DFC is indeed compatible with the Duramax fuel system, then it would be good PM to install some in your fuel tank shortly before putting your truck into storage, especially if it is long term. Filling the tank full was also a good idea. That reduces the amount of oxygen available to micro organisms, and will inhibit their growth.
Good Luck,
Britt

Just out of curiosity, what sort of "poor results" did you experience? Did they just not do what they claimed or did they actually cause problems? What products did you have this experience with?

Britt,
I haven't had any fuel problems in the past, and I have never used additives. I changed the fuel filter at 16.5K miles. She had a little over 21K when I put her into storage. The storage unit is covered, and secure, but it does not have climate control.
So, do you think I'll have any problems on start-up?
Thanks,
