I think my injectors are going bad. I know I have read in a thread or two in the past where someone mentioned changing out the pressure regulator or fuel pump or something while the injectors were being replaced. I don't remember what it was they recommended. So, my question is, is there anything I should have them replace while they have my truck?
thanks, Jeff

Ok, to put this back at the top. I am on a trip to San Antonio and will be there for 6 weeks. My truck is starting to smoke pretty bad. There is a little smoke coming out at steady speeds, but when I barely hit the accelerator the smoke come out in a big puff. Are there any good dealerships in San Antonio, and also, my question from the previous post, is it recommended to change the pressure regulator or pump? On my truck, about once a month I have to prime my system when it doesn't start. I don't know if it is because of the injectors or is my regulator going bad. Thanks in advance. I am staying in hotels so I have some slow connections and can't do a lot of searches.
Thanks,
Jeff

As far as the monthly priming, sounds like an air leak into the system, or a bad fuel regulator. As far as dealers,in Texas, can't help there sorry.
Good Luck..

You have two different problems. The dealer can check the PR valve when they check the injectors. They will not replace it unless they determine it is bad. The no start could be a small leak in the system between the tank and the inlet side of the pump. If you find one drop of fuel that will be your problem area. Later! Frank

Jeff I live in San Antonio and use Superior Pontiac/GMC dealer on NW Loop 410. Haven't had any major work there but think they are okay. Email me and I'll give you my phone no. I'm and older man (77) retired AF and have lived here on and off for about 44 years. bgisse@aol.com

When in TX, I use Cavender Chevy in Boerne about 15mins north of San Antone. While nothing major, they've treated my minor warranty issues well. It'd be nice to find a comparable dealer near my home tho ~

Thanks for the replies. I seen the dealership in Boerne over the weekend on my way into town. I assumed the service dept. was closed over the weekend like most other dealerships. I am trying to find someone to follow me there to drop the truck off. I just hope it doesn't take them too long to repair it. I am limited on my time here.
P.S. Age is as old as you feel.. :)

Frank,
If I had a small leak, wouldn't it lose prime every time I stopped? I can have it sit for a week and not drive it and it starts no problem. But there are times I will drive to Wal-Mart or somewhere and be in the store 30 minutes and come out and it not start. The primer is very loose and I have to pump it several times to get it full of fuel again. There are not drops of fuel on the ground and no wet spots under the truck. I am assuming an injector or 2 might randomly stick open and cause fuel to drain in the cylinder. I am just guessing, but it only makes sense to me. When an injector goes bad, does it stick open, closed, or just stop working?
Thanks,
Jeff
