I would check over at chevy parts (http://www.gmpartsclub.com) and see what their prices are. I usually order from them since their shipping rates are good and they seem to be pretty fast. Otherwise check on ebay if your willing to buy used gm tow mirrors.

I just paid $328 (canadian) for stock GM tow mirrors at my dealer. They quoted me $478 for the pair and gave me $150 for my old ones. I wasn't expecting them to take in my used ones, so that was a bonus!

I bought a 2006 LBZ Classic body style Crewcab Dually 4X4 Silverado LT3 package from a Ford dealership (I know, that was my FIRST mistake). In the deal, it was agreed that, as part of the purchase price, Ford dealership would replace tiny OEM mirrors with the GM OEM Camper style mirrors that look like the Ford SuperDuty truck mirrors, part numbers 15904034 and 15904035. They said they would "thow in" installation costs for new mirrors. They quoted me $500 added to the purchase price of the truck for their purchasing and installing the better Camper style mirrors. Since I knew mirrors would cost me around $560 retail, it did seem like they were "throwing in" installation costs.

First off, they ordered wrong (very much cheaper) mirrors. I threw a huge fit; and the dealership has now agreed to stick to the original deal -- for correct Camper style mirrors, and now the new correct mirrors are supposedly on order. BUT here's the rub: Ford dealership says his service guy says the Camper mirrors (part numbers 15904034 and 15904035) are not absolutely plug and play for my 2006. I'm thinking they are confused about the 2006 LLY versus the Classic 2006-2007 LBZ mirrors. Dealership claims that my turn signals and heated feature will not work with the mirrors, which are being ordered (supposedly) from GMpartsdirect.com. I currently have heated mirrors on my truck (but not turn signals in the mirror). I thought both turn signal and heated option was supposed to absolutely work on my 2006 LBZ (I thought I had read that in this or the DieselPage forums, but I can't find it now). Does anyone have any ammunition I can take with me -- when I go to dealership to have the mirrors installed -- that all features of the mirrors will work properly on my truck. I'm just scared that some "extra" work is required to make all features of those mirrors work -- that the dealership isn't willing to do because they are working for free -- even though that was the original deal. Help please!!

A poster said the 15904034 and 15904035 mirror should be "plug and play" -- meaning I would have all options working once installed. However, I don't currently have turn signals in my "installed from factory" mirrors. Will the turn signal functions from the Camper mirrors still be "plug & play" meaning that the turn signal lights implanted in the Camper mirrors will work anyway with my truck? I understand that I have the defrost back window feature, and that will "run" the heated portion of my new Camper mirrors, but I am not quite so sure about turn signals. I want to get all my facts straight for when I go to Ford dealership for their install of the mirrors. Did I mention I am the least mechanically inclined person on this planet? Thanks for any input from somebody who has been through this.

What trim level is the truck

Worst case it might need the body controll model reflashed but unless its a work truck trim it should be wired for those mirrors including turn signals.

KevinL: My truck has the higher end LT3 option set. It is a 2006 Silverado crewcab dually 4x4, has the Duramax LBZ engine w/ 6-speed Allison transmission. If you can, will you be very specific about wiring issues and what all the dealership will need to do in order to make all functions of my new Camper style mirrors work properly? In other words, will the install require removal of the door panels to get to any sort of wiring harness in connection with either the turn signals or the heat feature? As I posted previously, I have already been fighting with this Ford dealership, and now--after very grudgingly agreeing to order and install the correct Camper mirrors for my truck for the originally agreed price--the service department is saying they can't hook up either the heating option or the turn signals. Because I don't have turn signals on my current OEM mirrors, I can kinda see how the Ford dealership, who isn't completely knowledgeable about the inner workings of Chevys, might conclude that this would mean the turn signal feature wouldn't work when my new Camper mirrors were installed; but I am at a loss as to why the service department would say the heating option wouldn't work. Since i currently have heated mirrors, the heat option wiring has to already be run to the base of the current mirrors, right? (i have the back window defrost option, and I understand mirror heat wiring is associated with that defrost feature. This heat option should at least be plug and play, correct? I fear that the dealership, having already screwed up by pricing the mirrors to me too cheaply is now trying to do the installation on the cheap. So specifics for what exactly is required for the heating option hookup, the turn signal option, and the power mirror adjustment would really be appreciated. I need something detailed to print off and wave in the face of the Ford service department. Thanks so much. PS sorry for the long post; I am just trying to give all the relevant information I can think of.

Everyone's install experiences are welcomed. Of most help would be 2006 Camper style mirror installs that have been done on 2006 and 2007 old body style GMT-800 trucks (like mine). From my reading, I understand that the install/wiring issues are slightly different for installing the 2006-2007 Camper style mirrors on earlier 2001-2005 trucks, because their original factory version of camper mirrrors (on those older trucks) had slightly different features and wiring; and I understand the 2007.5 forward (new body style GMT-900) trucks also have slightly different mirror bases so that the 2006 Camper mirrors don't fit on those later model trucks. I know people have been successful rigging the wiring in their 2001-2005 trucks so that all features of the 2006-2007 Camper mirrors (15904034 and 15904035) work on their earlier trucks; but from what I've read, the wiring issues are different from the ones facing me in my planned mirror replacement. So, to help out my "reluctant" Ford service department, installation instructions that are very specific to my 2006 truck, with power heated mirrors but without turn signals, would really, really be appreciated.

The door panels have to be removed on the 03 and newer trucks to access the plug the mirrors plug into the power window switch.

Do you have the LED's in your mirrors now for the turn signal? If not, maybe they were damaged and replaced with a cheaper version of no turn signals in the mirror. I believe at the least, LLY- 07 OBS used the same plug and play mirror. With the difference being the rear window defrost ability.
So you should have the correct plug and play mirror.
If you don't have the LED's in the mirror, I would assume they were replaced at some point with cheaper versions
If you do have the LED's, then maybe they are both non-op. And the new mirrors will fix that.

yea an LT3 should definitely have the signals in the small mirrors. i have a 07 classic LT with signal small mirrors

Diesahl, perhaps the mirror that is standard in your 2007 Silverado wasn't yet standard in 2006?*At any rate, I definitely don't have turn signals showing in my mirrors. I suppose it is possible that the mirrors currently on my truck aren't the factory-installed versions, but they certainly look identical to the small factory mirrors. My truck definitely has the LT3 option set because I ran a VIN build report on it, plus I have the original window sticker from when the truck was new. On my 2006 truck's factory installed list of options, my set of mirrors' RPO code is DL8, described as "MIRROR, O/S LH & RH REM CONT, ELEC, DEFOG." (This translates to MIRROR, outside left and right, remote control, electric, heated). There is another mirror that was available in 2006 that was the same size and shape as mine which DOES have turn signals. Its RPO code is DL3. It is described as "MIRROR, outside left and right, remote control, electric, heated, power folding, turn signal indicator, light sensitive, color." It is apparently a further upgrade mirror offered for 2006 Silverado trucks. However, I don't think the DL3 mirror (power folding with turn signals) is necessarily the "standard" for 2006 LT3 Silverado crewcab dually 4x4's like mine. When I was researching the 2006's, I saw a lot of those LT3 trucks which had my same DL8 mirrors (power heated, but non-folding, and non-turn signal). The lefthand side of my DL8 mirrors, according to the gmpartsdirect.com website, appears to have the following part number and description: "GM OEM# 15226944, Door Rear View Mirror lh 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO power heated w/o puddle/signal/sensitivity & memory." Speaking of the gmpartsdirect.com website, no wonder there is confusion, because I actually found four very similarly-configured power mirrors while trying to find the part number for my particular mirrors. There was (1) a heated, power mirror without turn signals; (2) a heated, power mirror with turn signals; (3) a heated, power mirror with turn signals, and power folding; and (4) a bling-ed out version that was heated, power mirror with turn signals, power folding, and with memory settings.

Anyway, all of my agony over the wiring configuration (in preparation for the upcoming install of the DPN Camper mirrors) is kind of a moot point now, because I just ran across this fabulous link on the "Muth Mirror Systems" website:
http://www.muthco.com/epapers/21001190.pdf

Their website has PDF's explaining how to install their aftermarket mirrors with turn signals on various years and models of Chevrolet Silverados, and lots of other vehicles as well. The site had a set of instructions that was written specifically for the 2006 Silverado. After carefully studying those instructions, I have come to the conclusion that the same exact install procedure will translate perfectly for installing GM's DPN Camper mirrors (heated, power, with turn signals) in place of my DL8 mirrors (power, heated mirrors without turn signals). The instructions even explain where you can access and splice into the turn signal wiring at a different location if it isn't actually present in the door panel.**

This is precisely the detailed install instructions I need to wave in the face of the Ford service technician who is claiming that neither the heat or turn signal capabilities of the DPN Camper mirrors will work when those mirrors are installed on my truck in place of my current DL8 mirrors!! (The part numbers for the DPN Camper mirrors being ordered for me are 15904035 for the RH mirror and 15904034 for the LH mirror), I believe the linked instructions prove him wrong. If aftermarket mirrors like Muth's can be installed in place of GM's DL8 mirrors; then surely the Ford tech can be convinced, in the face of these very detailed instructions, that GM's OEM DPN mirrors (made for this specific year model of truck) can likewise be installed without any problems, and with all features working properly when the install is done. Like I said previously, I fear the Ford service tech was planning to take shortcuts in the install, to get it done and out the door since it is a "freebie" install.

If anyone who has actually done such an install has the time, I would appreciate your checking out the installation instructions link given above, which has lots of pictures and very explicit instructions. If, after reading the instructions, you feel there are any install issues (for changeout of DL8 mirrors for DPN Camper mirrors) that are not covered in the instructions, I would love any additional install advice I need to pass on to the install tech. I personnaly think the install instructions are so idiot proof that even I (who flunked puzzles in kindergarten and do not have a mechanical gene in my body) could do the install, if I absolutely had to. Thanks for everyone's patience and assistance, and for helping me on my quest for decent towing mirrors.
