I bought some very expensive brake pads from Carbotech about 2 months ago (I buy pads from them for my race car). When I put them on the rear of my truck they didnt fit, it seemed the recesses in the backing plate were too far apart, the backing plate would rest at an angle and not slide back flate against the caliper. I called the owner and he said essentially that this happens on all trucks and you have to file down the slides and the backing plate until they fit, he says he has done it several times on his and his buddies trucks. Now I dont call myself an expert, but I have put new pads on many different makes and models but I have never had to take a grinder to any backing plates let alone the slides! Anyone else had to do this?

I can seedoing some grinding work to make the pads fit but only on the pads. Never grind the bracket where they sit as all pads are different and you could make them to lose on the next set of pads.

I've never had a brake pad that didn't need the backing plate slot filed down to fit and slide properly. X2 what Joey D said alway file or grind the pad, not the caliper bracket. But from the way I read your description it sounds like you are saying they are too loose and binding.

Thanks for the replies guys, now I know he's not FOS. Admittedly I've never done heavy duty truck brakes before, but every other brake pad I've I've ever installed just slipped right in.
